Duel registrations : Sat Feb 13, 2010 2:33 pm
Seems to be happening at a few clubs which IMO is bad for the game.

Would we welcome super duper league players to Cougar Park?

Good, bad,i dont know but i think it will help our cause to stay up,obviousley.

Anyhow, its valentines day tomorrow so i expect a few of you will be missing.or you could bring your better half to the game.Im ok spent £2.85 on a card ,simples 8)

I have only been wrong once and thats because I thought I was wrong but I was wrong I was right!

Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.

Anon.

I'm not completely certain how it all works but think that the player trains with the superleague side, but is free to play with the other side as long as the superleague side don't need him.

Does not seem like the best method of team bonding to me, I just think its a way of superleague clubs reducing their cost whilst hanging on to all the talent.

Re: Duel registrations : Sat Feb 13, 2010 3:10 pm
My understanding and is based on a piece the other week is that the deal clearly favours the super leage clubs as they can cal back the players at 24 hours notice.

This cannot help when planning and training because in theory the championship club could be left in a position of having to change tactics at the last minute as an example.

Personally I am glad we have not gone dow this avenue, surely a settled squad has to be better.

I can see the advantage of having a player or two on loan - they get first team experience, a team gets a player in a position they need to fill - but dual registration? That can only ever be in SL club's favour, and is a pretty short-sighted approach for a championship club. How can you build a team like that? I hope we don't go down that road.

This highlights the crap deal none super league clubs get in the dual registration deal, in this case Widnes had him signed on the deal, but lo and behold he is now with Castleford on at least a months loan.

When are championship and championship 1 clubs wake up and smell the coffee and stop being super league clubs bitches it serves them right for falling for it.

On the telly game on thursday, I think it said about five Leigh players are 'dual registration' from Wigan; just ringers really, it seems very unfair to the rest of anyone who has anything to do with Leigh. Apparently they even do nearly all of their training with the SL outfit.
The Sky TV panel thought it was a good idea, but surely it's only a very cynical and short term solution for Leigh (or shoud that be 'Wigeigh?) and can only really benefit Wigan?
Be interesting to hear what Leigh fans think, certainly the majority of Cougar fans seem to be against it.

dont be cheeky.as supporters we'd prefer to have nowt to do with them down the road.sometimes needs must but not this time
seriously though we've got 4 D,C players 1 from st.helens jacob emitt[forward]absolute work horse.3 from warrington blyth[centre]
mitchell & MCcarthy[forwards]i thought blyth & MCcarthy did ok on thursday[first game out]emitt does the hard yards but its mitchell who's got everyone buzzing at the moment he's played 2 games fev & barra & put 3/4 massive hits in.to be honest i'm surprized how easy they've made the step up from A team to CC level without doubt they've enhanced our squad.
now for the down side they can be called back anytime the owner club needs him as we found out with MCcarthy last week & widnes found out with ainscough who was taken back to wigan then instantly loaned out to cas which for me is really taking the pee but as you say this is initiative was setup to benefit the SL clubs long term not us.finally i will say i'm glad we've got these players & i hope its for the season but if saints & wire do take there players back it could come back & bite us although when our three props are back from injury we will still have a strong pack.
p.s i think they do all the heavy work with the owner club & a couple of days with us doing ball work.

JC thanks for that, do you know if for example you or anyother club get all their own players fit can then say to sl club take the dual registration players back we are ok now.Whenthere are further injuries are the non sl club able to call the players back as and when needed or is it as I suspect just tilted toward the sl club.

Thanks.

I guess the main problem is if they're making the teamsheet every week and a club becomes reliant on them there is a gap to fill if said player gets suddently recalled.
