A successful first season for the Cougar Prowlers has resulted in three girls being selected to represent Yorkshire against Lancashire. Jess Courtman, Abbie Flaherty and Hollie Postlethwaite from Oakbank School have worked with the Cougars on a variety of projects from the playing for success centre Cougar Pride to the unique initiative Sporting Chance. They have also represented Oakbank in the Semi - Finals of the girls Champion Schools. The girls have progressed with their skills really well and have shown a desire and willingness to learn and compete. Over the last twelve months the girls have received coaching from Community Cougars Foundation staff Dean Muir and Tom Hall in both a school and a club environment.
Kathryn Shepherd, Oakbank's school sports coordinator said, "This is a fantastic achievement for the girls; they have worked hard and shown commitment throughout the season. Credit must also go to the Community Cougars Foundation Development Team whose expert coaching and support for the development of rugby league at Oakbank School has been outstanding!"
Community Cougars Foundation Manager Dean Muir said, "Myself and Tom are very proud of what the girls have achieved this year with the Prowlers and this is the icing on the cake."
