There are a few things to weigh up before answeringthis question.
e.g.
Wally Lewis was without doubt the most brilliant overseas player I have ever seen at the club but he was'nt here for many games.
but
JD has served the club well for a long period of time and has, for most of that time, been very good.
however
Henry Paul, Darren Fritz, David Solomona & Willie Poching amongst others are all somewhere in between these two.
then
there's others to consider who were excellent for us but in a less demanding league. Mike Kuiti, Sonny Whakaru, Garen Casey, Matt Fuller, Brad Waugh, Steve Ella, Ray Price etc...
The big names who easily come to mind are all well and good but some of the other players deserve to be on the list for a bunch of reasons.
Maybe the list needs more catagories like:
Most Brilliant
1. Wally Lewis
2. Henry Paul
3. Steve Ella
4. David Solomona
5. Ray Price
Best Value
1. JD
2. Willie Poching
3. Darren Fritz
4. Andrew Leeds
5. Alan Burns
6. Geof Bagnal
Unsung Hero
1. Sonny Whakaru
2. Sam Obst
3. Matt Fuller
4. Chris Perry
5. Brad Waugh
I'm sure I've missed a few like
Don Swanson and
Darren Waters who were very good for us in the mid 80s at a time when we needed players just like them.
