Another solid performance after last minute disruption. Hopefully that's the last we see of the experiment of playing Walmsley at fullback. I must say I think our halves have been second best is most of the games i have seen this season. Halifax ran some great lines and varied the play up to really cause us problems. Bain needs to calm down. For a period he was more interested in righting a wrong where he knocked on twice and gave two penalties away, letting Halifax back into the game. It was a hot day but we looked tired. Especially Atoni and Bowden.

We could do with a week off but I don't think we have one.

Correct no week off and not a big enough squad to really rest a few...dont want to seem critical has its 12 from 12 but with how we are currentley playing bradford and toulouse away could easily be losses.thought walmsley did ok had 2 assists but max shouldnt be at 6 his defence as been said many times isnt good enough.that said as a whole the team defenceas been off today.as for fax they will work there way up the league id love to see either of there half backs down here they were great

We played pretty well in that first half all considering and got ourselves into a good position going in 28-6 up. At the start of the second half though, we were just a bit slow and not switched on which allowed them to play a bit. Then once they scored a couple of tries we seemed to switch back on again and pull away. It's something that Powell's said a few times about us, that sometimes we seem to play when we want to play but have spells of letting teams come back at us when we switch off a bit. I know it's not the easiest thing to do, keeping that intensity for 80 minutes game after game, especially when you race into a good lead at halftime, but it's something we're obviously conscious of and need to sort out at times.

In fairness Halifax never stopped trying and deserved their score.
.
Totally agree re Max - let's not do it again please- I'm no coach but it's madness taking our main attacker from his best position to one where he is very ordinary!
Likewise walmsley - leave him on the wing where he's prolific! That said olpherts let no-one down today his finishing was top class.

Powell is still keen to experiment with Max in the halves...

He was a last minute forced switch.
The choice was him or Kay.

Thought he did fine under the circumstances

Well we all see things differently.
I thought we were a much better attacking team when he was at fullback - he didn't let us down at no6 but I reckon kaye would have been the better choice in that position today.

Our problem is we only have two halves. Putting max,Kaye, walmsley in there is not the answer.

Of course he's better at fullback.

But Powell certainly considers him an option at 6. Commented on it in the post match.

I'd have to watch it back but I'm thinking Max got a lot of assists today from 6.

Jowitt went well at 6, the issue is that he's an excellent FB and we lose something from this position if he plays 6.

Max is probably the 3rd best half at the the club and can do a good job there as he showed today. The problem is he is the best FB at the club by a very long way so by moving him away from there the team is definitly weaker. I would have gone with Kay but at the end of the day we still scored 40 points and won the game by over 20 so can't really complain.
