Just come on this thread, so apologies if this has already been said, as I have not got time to go through all the posts relating to it. Richard Owen to be fair is more than a decent player. When he's played this year he's done well. The problem is not that he's not good enough, but that he is on far too much money and the club have been keen to get him off the payroll. Without going into detail, basically his agent sucker punched Cas and he ended up with a 4 year lucrative contract. I don't know the details of his Wakey contract, but there is no way they will be paying anything like what he was on, so I would imagine we will be paying some of it. I have heard that if Wakey stay up this year he will be permanent and in the event they were relegated (they won't be) he comes back to us.
He looked really promising a few years back, but had a terrible injury that knocked him back and he also had a couple of off field misdemeanours which he now appears to have learnt from. As I say he was not good enough for what he was on, but is definitely a more than useful player. If he could get back to anything like the promise he showed before his injury, you could well end up with a good signing.
