Proctor might be going to France (like he didn’t get enough time off to go this season) not that we need/want him

There’s plenty of players who we could build a top team with in SL and Championship.

I would hope that we try to get a few players on season loan too from SL teams. Players like Hewitt, Corey Hall, Yusuf Aydin would be of interest who may get limited game time in 2024 but could be very good for Trinity.

There’s a few handy championship players out of contract. Bulls fans want to keep keven Appo who seems to have gone well and can play SR/LF.

If we are to look abroad then I hope it’s for a pivotal position like a halfback or a 9. I think Faamanu Brown and Brandon Wakeham are out of contract but I don’t know if they’d bd realistic targets.

Really interested to see the squad that’s built but I’d be fine with a mix of re signings from this season, top championship players, a few young players and a few SL players who would do a good job.

Really though if we are staying full time then we should effectively be building a SL quality team. Hopefully Powell can get a few quality players to buy in.

Trouble is for you guys what would be good year for Trin?
There is realisticly no way back into S/L unless someone goes bust and just replacing Wakefield with Featherstone is hardly enhancing S/L.
Just keep your fingers crossed that the RFL see sense and end this contract with IMG as everything they have come up with is meaningless.

Honestly Bonaire. You are on the wrong forum for that speech. IMG is absolutely our best way back.

Is the talk of incoming players a bit premature. Neither Ellis or Powell are in place yet.

One thing I did notice on our 1998 squad, it wasn't full of ageing players. The average age of the squad then, was 24.

Food for thought

Leigh fought a fantastic campaign with older cast off players to great affect , sprinkled with youth and some quality overseas players ,in fact Charnley is up there with the leading try scorers , so don’t be so quick to dismiss these older players as they have all the qualities required for a great campaign

Exactly!
There’s no substitute for experience- providing there is speed in the squad older heads are vital!

Yes it has been shown to work, but the older players must be good players that have 'matured'
However I would add if you go with that approach, the best physio and conditioner that you can find could be the most important signings that you make. It's no good having good older players if you can't keep them fit and on the pitch

You can say that about younger players as well I.e Johnstone, Murphy, jowett, they've spent more time in the physio room as anyone. Just compare them to Ashurst, pitts . So it all doesn't depend on age.

I think we can all agree that Leigh have shocked everyone with their performances and ultimately their league position ,to say that most people had them down for a relegation battle with us , how wrong we could be . There will be quality experienced players being offloaded in the coming weeks and months as squads are finalised and fringe players requiring loan spells along with young lads busting a gut to perform in front of the new coach . Interesting few months ahead as Powell sifts through the players that are required to steer us back on track for promotion at the earliest opportunity. A far cry from only a few months ago when everything looked bleak and depressing looking into the future

Top six 2005 - Trinity.

Re: 2024 Team Sheet ??? : Tue Oct 03, 2023 8:39 am
Jai Whitbread signed for Hull KR according to some social media articles today.

I’m sure I read that we would command a few for him. I should imagine that fee and his salary will go towards next seasons team building.
