Wakefield Trinity are extremely close to acquiring the signature of John Bateman for the 2025 season beyond. Talks in advanced stages over a 3 year deal at Wakey

That account just makes things up.

It has been right but so is a broken clock twice a day and generally for every one it gets right it tends to get 20 wrong.

Batemen would be a solid signing for us if we are aiming to fight for a play off spot for 2025 in SL.

He is a current England international isn’t he? Played for England last year I think. When would be the last time we had 3 x England internationals in the squad?

I don’t think he’s at the level he was but he’d be a solid signing. Don’t expect it would be marquee either.

I have full confidence in the club to get right players in.

Second row is certainly an area for 2025 we need 2/3 coming in. Not going to be easy to find that quality to replace Ashurst and Pitts. Boothroyd does show promise imho and is ahead of players his own age from uk talent pool in terms of development however I think we only have one quota spot and still a few gaps to fill in a few areas.

My understanding is, his original demands were not achievable, but in the last few days these have reduced significantly.
