Quote newgroundb4wakey="newgroundb4wakey"Vasty mate you are making the same mistake as lots of others have before you. A few years ago Sean O' Loughlin blamed a Wigan defeat on Tigers small pitch. Powell pointed out the Wigan pitch was 74 Yards wide (the same as The Jungle) but Castlefords pitch was 5 yards longer than Wigans. The 30m lines are dashed because they're not 10m from the 40m lines.

You will remember the tv program some mothers do have em for years Bradford had every corner of there pitch raised due to the speedway and stock car track! Did any one complain about an unfair advantage? Then you had Widnes with the astro turf ! What an advantage that was if you can find an advantage that is within the rules and you keep winning on it!
Go for it

Utter bunkum.
Wakey and Wigan are both 100m long (+ in-goals), and Cas is 86m long.

| The whole point for me and a huge pun is intended is at SL level we quite literally should have a level playing field. I don’t find it in any way amusing or quirky, at this level people jobs are at stake and the least that can be asked for imho is that the pitches are all the same size and more importantly yet that the thing is level.
I accept there is an argument that plastic pitches do the same thing, yet fundamentally a 4G pitch is flat and the right size and most teams can practice on one if they wish.
No team should stand a better chance of winning because they have a better knowledge of their inadequate pitch. Some things in RL will always be unfair but this shouldn’t be one. As noted by another poster it makes us a laughing stock.

Did it used to be the 20M line or they were spaced out, then had to change because of the 40/20 rule? I'm sure the dashed lines used to be further away from 1/2 way

Good point.
It could be because of rule changes that it's now more obvious.
You now need a 10m line for drop outs. A 20m line for restarts and 40/20. A line 30m from the try line for 20m drop outs (is that still a rule). A half-way line and 10m from that for kick-offs. That only leaves the gap between the 30 & 40m as 'flexible'.
In the good old days it was much simpler with just a 25 yard line from the try line and on 10 yards from half way with nothing in between.

| I think the problem is due to the rule changes about the distance of the dead-ball line from the spectator fences, for health and safety reasons, so some otherwise full-size pitches that were close to the fences were squashed in to fit.
As for the slope at Featherstone, it's not the biggest surprise, and I assume the coin toss takes added significance, as teams want to play up the slope when they're fresher and attack down the slope in the second half.

It didn't help us the other week.
As for level playing fields, what about the curled up pitch at Odsal. Quirky and disgraceful in equal measure.

| SL not based on level playing field.
The extra tragic game can give an advantage.
Turn round games, just how that will work with games now on Thu, Fri, and Sat will be interesting.

Err I think you'll find it is, that's the point of a rule book, the fact that it often isn't is due to the flagrant ignoring of said rules when it suits.

I don’t know what was said on tv, but before the game, I read the notes by JM in the March issue if Mighty Trin, in which he explains there had been recently some frustrating days and mountains of documents to process try to get the funds paid into he bank account, and by the time we read these notes, there should be some good news for everyone, and detailed plans published of the new Stand and development.

Although I get your point and it will effect it to a degree there is a time lag on these things.
I’m guessing much of the stuff is already made or off the shelf and already ordered. So we should avoid the worst.
All the same we don’t half have an unfortunate knack of getting close just as the economy dips.
Thornes was a great example. Although there were other factors the biggest issue was the 2010 crash which hit WMDC harder than most.

Why?
What the eye doesn’t see, the Heart doesn’t grieve, there is a lot going on behind the scenes at BV, and many meetings involving a wide range of partners. At least that’s what my understanding is of the current situation.

Yes I saw that when I passed at 3pm and they were still up there (or up there again) at 5.45pm. Must have those nightmare bi-pin connections like in my kitchen?

| any chance "jerkcourt" have honoured their planning agreement yet and placed the funds for the stadium redevelopment in the appropriate account yet?
or would i be better advised to ask if Bo Jonson has stopped lying and knows how many children he has (was the best comparator I could think of in terms of the likely answer being yes!)

Don’t know but I’d trust Boris more.
Been asked by a couple of folk if it’s true that something positive took place last week. I don’t have any inside line as such so I’ll give it a day or two and just email JM and ask. It’s up to him what he wants to tell me which may well be nothing
The vibe seems positive but then we’ve been there before.

| It's the ultimate question, we've a few weeks to find out. I would've thought there would've been some prep work for any temp seating given there is only the Salford and Cas game before the East Stand is scheduled to be demolished
