Most of the objections on there aren't valid anyway they're just scaremongering and making things up, the planners will see this + the 15k petition wins us the numbers of support. I think we'll be taking 700+ to Wigan tomorrow maybe a final rally call get even a quarter of them to submit support on the council website will do us no harm

Good idea. Will try and sort something out! :D

Can you read the positive and negative comments on the Wakefield planning site and count for/against? I can see where you enter comments and register but not where you can read them.

I've just been viewing a few objections and they are using the same letter :? has got that bad that they can't even think up objections for them selves,

we might as well bombard the council with one from our selves if that was the case, I think this 15k petition is going to have more sway than I thought

To be fair, they are going to be about the same issue. Just like your two arguments are the creation of jobs and the wider benefit for sport in the district. May be worded differently but still same points being made.

You would have thought that everyone on here would have submitted their support of the stadium by now. Why hasn't the club or the stadium community trust posted out leaflets to everyone on the club mailing list? I've been telling friends and family to to submit support which they have done. How many leaflets got handed out? we should have let all the turnstyle operators hand them out

Or the stewards when they were letting one fan out of the ground at a time. :?

yes but at least I have chosen to put my point of view across rather than copy and pasting a document that some else has written,
if you read through that letter it is totally misleading, would love to see the evidence to back it all up, the scare mongering about the through route to pinderfields hospital is a joke

I have know doubt that I'm biased to the fact that I would love to see the development go ahead as a fan of Wakefield but lets put it this way, we have a city that is in need of a stadium to support sport in general, and the present climate money isn't easy to come by and should not be wasted in developments that can't justify being completed,
the Thornes park project would of been a greater difficulty in engineering as it was more complexed with the surrounding area, this one ticks all the boxes bar for the few that live close,
I used to live in Walton close to Walton pit, the old pit houses that was near by has now got open area has been allowed to do back to its "natural habitat" but the other day I took the dog for a walk around the area and still shows signs of pit life there,
the project helps local development in jobs, its thinking of the surrounding area and it improving a city that needs a boost

I'm a happy depressive - the glass is half empty but the bar is open.

Re: New Stadium - Objection Flyer and Web Site : Mon Apr 05, 2010 12:09 am
There is an article in the latest issue of the Rothwell Record about the new development - not had time to read it in detail but it looks mainly negative - previous letters had been mainly positive but this looks like a more serious piece. I heard that all the Rothwell councillors had been happy with the original plans when invited to review them but some changed their mind when greenbelt land was involved.

Rothwell comes under Leeds so there is no direct influence on the final decision by Wakefield but it is nearer to the new ground than many parts of Wakefield so could have some influence. I live in Rothwell and support the ground and will support more or less any development around the area - let's face it , in 10 years every motorway junction will have a trading estate / retail park by it so do we get in early & get the decent companies or leave it until last and get the dregs ?

At the shareholders meeting last year when the plans were first available to view Colin Mackie (the Developer) said that, apart from the Saddleworth junction which is smack in the middle if the Pennines, every junction on the M62 had been developed except for Junction 30.
