"In fairness the Wildcats spluttered sporadically. When they were good they were very, very good and when they weren’t - they gave away penalties."

Even though he has been at Wakey only a relative short time John Kear has shown that he posseses something very special as a coach.

He is sure to rank with Ken Traill as one of the greatest coaches to lead our club in modern times.

The very best thing to happen to the club since I have been a fan.

He has got it tough this week, I know I have said it but will keep on saying it. Our club needs the fans more than ever .

John Kear is 1 of the nicest most geniune blokes i have ever met through following my club Hull Fc, would always take time out to speak to the fans at sportsmans dinners etc, as you say held in the highest regard by many in the sport and conducts himself with great dignity on and off the pitch

never forgot what he did for my club in winning the challenge cup for us but the way he handled things at wakefield through all the heartache you as a club have been through speaks volumes for the man, just hope you get a change of luck if any team deserves it it's you guys

Wish you all well, it's really hit me hard so god knows how you guys are coping

Great post and what a truely fantastic individual John Kear is. When he has retired and looks back on his career he can feel proud on how he handled circumstances no coaches should have to deal with. Also all us Wakefield fans who have faced these difficult times can hold are heads up high because of the support we have shown the club, and those affected.

He should be given an MBE in the queens honours list for his services to the game and way he conducts himself imo

Totally agree with that. There is no better man in the game that these players could have around them at the moment.

His response to this tragedy expresses the same brand of genuine emotion combined with an articulate personality that he gives week in week out to the game as a whole.

His services to Wakefield and the game deserve genuine recognition.

I echo all that has been said on here. The main thing though is to look after him and all at the club. They must all be affected in some way by all of this.

Us Yorkshire folk can be very good at holding in our emotions and not really expressing ourselves and getting our true feelings out.

I hope everyone of of you pulls together and helps each other through this, God knows you need to now. I wish you all well and hope that you all pull through.

At times i wonder what some people do to get the praise and awards they do, ie MBE's and those who do most dont get recognised. But what this guys done to keep everything together and act in the most dignified, caring and inspiring manor he deserves a knighthood!!!

Isnt there a website where you can start a petition to downing street or somat?? or just write to the prime minister? I know it might seem a bit self indulgent at this time of a great loss to the family of a young lad but it would be a fitting tribute to JK and everyone at Wakefield if he got a honour like this wouldnt it? something good came out of something very upsetting for everyone..
