The night is dark and full of terrors.

Winter is coming.

Doesn't matter how many will be in the ground - every single RL fan in the country will be with Wakefield somehow tonight, after all we are part of the same family !

TBF there were hardly any from Saints - not that I blame them as it is was a Friday night, was on Sky anyway and was always bound to be a 'difficult' and emotional night.

Our home games to date - Salford / Wire / Catalan / Saints - have all conspired to be low crowds for various reasons. I'm sure the club will be banking on bigger crowds for the Yorkshire derbies.

Let's hope so but at the moment the support has been a bit poor IMO. Would have thought fans would be coming out of the wood work etc.

Went to the pub after the game, including myself there was 4 people who had been. Ten people approached us during the evening wanting to know all about the game. As I was leaving I passed another four blokes comming in the doorway who had said they had been to another pub in Wakey to watch it. If these people who are interested in the club would get off their backsides to support us we would get the gates we deserve.

The reason I started this thread was to highlight our problem with our sporting public.

We have a good club the punches above its weight, We have a great and proud bunch of hardcore supporters. However I have serious doubts about the wider public of our City and quite honestly I don't believe they deserve a SL club.

Yeah I have few people in bus station coming up asking me what score was how we played etc. Same guy always seems to be there saying how much he likes rugby, so I just said "get to a game once in a while and decide for yourself"

Seems people would rather watch it in the pub, what prob works out more expensive any way.

The lads certianly deserve better support that what they are getting at the moment.

This is nothing new really, look back historically probably back to the late 70's and our crowds were very similar to todays.
People wearing Wakey shirts (at £45) in the pub in Normy when the match is on 4 miles away never ceases to amaze me!!

the crowds are poor but so were bradfords pre sl.give the schools tickets and fill the ground nothing to lose. normy has loads of wakey fans even the norman pub has gone red white and blue and put shirts on the wall, in the 60s we had massive crowds the grounds the problem we all know that

think trb nailed it, friday night games where away team has to do more than about an hours journey are always going to be poor attendences, and for a family of 4 your looking at 50 quid to get in, again Im sorry to say this but twice a month on sky your looking at 100 quid saved in many peoples eyes. Or put it another way not taking the family pays for your months sky subscription!!

a new ground wont change that, in my opinion nothing will on a cold friday night, however a team pushing for the top 4 and or a cup run will bring the fans out of the pubs / armchairs.

on a positive note more people have asked me this week about games to go to to try it / see if they /their kids like it.
however I was honest and did not recommend last night as a good starting point for newbies.
