Yep, have to agree, Vasty. Aydin never broke through into our first team and even though he went on loan to Leeds he obviously didn't impress enough there to warrant them making him an offer...was a 6/10 player for me. If he kicks on to the next level with KR then good luck to him but for me that ship has sailed and we move on to (hopefully) bigger and better things
Puzzled about the suggestions that Wakefield should sign him on loan. He's exactly the type of player who is probably going to end up playing regularly for Fev this season given the DR link-up with HKR, and Wakefield have their own DR agreement with Wigan which will give them access to players who are probably better anyway.
Not really, they offered him what I call a train on squad deal, in essence exactly the same deal he had with us.
Not true.
100% was offered a deal at Leeds, with a massive financial upgrade in what he was offered by us. He was offered slightly more and better assurances over first team rugby at KR along with a shared part time living agreement over there with Batch.

The financial terms he was offered were derisory by Trinity.
He was offered double your money deals by 2 clubs and took the one he felt best for him.
He missed the preseason last year due to injury which will impact massively any player let alone a young developing middle and then picked up another injury on his return.
He’s getting a full preseason under his belt this year at a club that will be competing at the top end of the table and he’s still a very young.
I personally think he would have been a great direct replacement for Arona in 2023 but the club felt otherwise.
I do think he needs to be making an impact this year with 10-15 games.
I don’t think he would have kept us up in 2023 but I do think the squad would be stronger for having him in it and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back at the club in the future.
You don't half have a habit of changing your mind regarding players that you deem suitable for Trinity. I remember you saying he was too small, and wouldn't make it. TBF you changed that opinion later, but I don't recall you ever being an enthusiast.
You are totally over egging him now! He's not a patch on Arona, never was, never will be, nothing like the versatility or skill levels. He wasn't remotely an Arona replacement imo. Arona played 70 NRL games, and 10 games for the Cook Islands, one of the better second tier International teams.
Phantoms got it more correct imo, he will see out his deal at HKR, playing mainly for Fev, before finally joining them. Had he stayed at Trin he may have become a Mr dependable, but he didn't, and that chance has gone.
I think your Wigan bias stops you seeing just how serious Ellis actually might be. If he matches his words he and his coach won't be looking at bringing Aydin back. Once back in SL we will be looking to compete with the likes of Wigan. Would Wigan sign Aydin, no they wouldn't.
This all boils down to how seriously you take the new regime, and I don't think you are. I understand that, we've been here before, but until proved otherwise then Aydin is not the class of player we will be signing should we return to SL, unless he improves hugely.

How do you mean 'not true'? How do you know what was offered, are you his agent? His dad? Gary Hetherington?
Your word is no more accurate than anyone else's, my truth comes from someone at the club, I can't prove it but neither can you. There are many 'truths' in RL, mine and yours are equally valid, unless you can prove it - always tricky on a forum.

Finally how do you know what he was offered?
Here she goes again…it’s been a while!
Yep I did believe he was too small in height at one point, during the 2020 off season he shot up though probably 2 or 3 inches, and as you correctly stated I changed that opinion.
I’m totally over egging him? In what way, saying he would have been a good squad middle player at 13 due to his work rate, his ability to play long minutes and his low error rate.
I’m not claiming he is Andy Farrell but I do think he would have gone well in that middle role last year had he signed for us.
I’m not undermining our ownership because I think a player who I feel would have done a good job for us in 2022, that’s a big stretch even by your standards.
Hull KR got to a Challenge Cup Final and Eliminstion semi final in 2023. That’s a club that is going well, that’s a fact, not speculation if we get to those levels I will be over the moon let’s not pretend KR are not a top team, they are and he is a part of that squad who are a top team…another fact, not speculation.
Cook Islands are ranked 13th of rugby league nations, if anyone is over egging things in a silly (but expected) response it’s not me.
How do I know what he was offered? What does that have to do with you?
His younger brother is a bit of a late developer just been signed from the Wakefield College program to join up with the Academy next year. Very talented kid, just needs to get his head down and do the work and he could go well at Trinity too.
Aydin has just turned 23, he’d be a good pickup in the Championship where he might develop and become a genuine SL middle. The thing that makes him different from most young forwards is his leg speed, he’s not a lumbering one paced forward he eats up yards and with more maturity & experience he could be a very solid stalwart for years. He certainly wouldn’t let us down and IMO is tough enough to stand up when we go to Cumbria, Batley etc

Yes but remember he wasn’t considered to be worth investing in by our football manager at the time, nor were Croft or Shaw and I wonder what happened to them.
