You may be right, and it has all been considered and is one of many angles we have open to us, but only if it takes us closer to what we want from the process. AFAWK the SoS has an overview on this process - and is not best pleased. If we continue to get nothing, then we will act, but we hope it wont come to that.

I took your post as being one more indicative of resignation to the idea that nothing will ever happen - there are plenty who would agree with that and I don't blame them, but, from the amount of meetings and pace of activity - which has steadily built over the past few months, we remain hopeful that we can come to an acceptable deal at the end of this process. If we do, it will have all been down to the efforts of those who contributed to the petition, the letters and all the other showings of support we have had over the years - even my friend NGB4C.

The likelihood is that the land that NC sits on would have got PP in any case - with or without us, as the land was prime for removal from the GB and turning into development land. There are other bits of the site which are more valuable which may not have got PP and these remain undeveloped for now, but if, IF, we get a stadium, be it at BV or NM, out of this it will all have been a worthwhile process.

Remember, no-one was offering us a penny towards a stadium once the council pulled Thornes off the table and that is only about 5/6 years ago! Its a short time in development terms - as our friends down the lane will learn with their current proposal - they still have fans who think they'll be building it next year!!! Patience is everything in this game - I've had to learn that!

Worthwhile process!
If you get BV and not NM how about telling the local residents on Newmarket who have sold up ,lost thousands and who are going to live in an industrial est it's Worthwhile , the very first meeting about NM it was " how do we get this out of green belt" so don't kid yourself .
So much weight was put on the development because of the stadium and the way wakefeild was going to end childhood obesity but wanted a fast food outlet 200 yards away.
I think the word you are looking for is selfish

If I lived next to an old pit on a junction next to the M62 one junction down from M1/M62 interchange I would have expected it to be developed eventually. I live next to unit 41 ind estate (used to be fields) and that is worthwhile its provided me with employment for the last 20 years. Wish it had a stadium thought but hopefully stadium at NM will still happen.

But isn't the Newmarket site now designated for B8 warehousing irrespective of the stadium so it will be covered in warehouses anyway. The Newmarket inquiry preceeded the LDF inquiry by a matter of weeks and the site was always going to be taken out of Green Belt irrespective of the Stadium as there was a need for Wakefield MDC to find land for development in the district in order to create much needed job opportunities for the people of Wakefield and surrounding areas.

I will be very disappointed if there is no stadium at Newmarket but at least the site is capable of creating jobs for the district.

I think the words you are looking for is NIMBY.

Nimby hell ye
I think you will find out that no one objected to the stadium ,but the objection were pointing out that there is no stadium and it was all about warehouses, but no you wouldn't listen .
Your point about job's why put a jobs were unemployement is the lowest and were everyone as to travel to the site
So what was it 2000 jobs no was it 1500 no was it 800? It's now less than 20 according to NC ( low skilled)
Hell of a legacy wakefield the home of the warehouse

And you successfully avoid the pertinent points once more:

1. The land was going to be industrial with or without a stadium.
2. I have no idea why you are on a RL forum.

We will see what turns out.
