today it came to an end of an era with the lad choosing to finish playing,
it didn't come as a shock as we had talked a little about earlier but while he did still have is scholarship down at Wakefield but as the other day it was mentioned that the club wouldn't be in a position to offer him a place.
he has tried to regain his fitness as before his ankle injury but this was to no avail as he has found the going hard due to his size, if its not been with ligament damage its been muscles tightening causing a multitude of aches and back pains and strains which has been difficult to shake off while trying to regain fitness, he still is ongoing with the hospital as he has a chipped bone still floating and is awaiting MRI scan results which has been promised and gone by the NHS.
I would love to think that he may return but feel that's just a parent that loved watching him from the pitch side so you have to respect his decision.
So I would like to thank the Club for the opportunity and wish the present scholarship players all the success in their careers.
and thanks for the memories Lewis they was truly great
Well Lewis as finally come of age mate ,
which happens to most of em. One thing I will savour is that our families have become good friends and at my low point you have been an amazing friend.
The weight is now probably lifted of Lewis in terms of playing at the moment mate and he can look onwards towards his future education or scheme . Maybe in a couple of years or maybe sooner ( Uni etc ) he can play again at high amateur standard and just enjoy life.
I really do feel tough that the kids are playing to many games with way to many cup games if you are successful and some with small squads players that bodies are just starting to develop are being put trough to much . All because BARLA , YJL , WRFL etc carnt get along and allow for for postponements .
Seen Lewis our best from all of us Me , K , Big gibbo , Little Gibbo n poppi
