Trust me, it wasn’t. I find it hard to comprehend the behaviour of some and I do believe a minutes’ silence is a more poignant way to pay ones respects, it just the applause would drown out the minority who feel that the silence is a cue for them to make ‘amusing’ remarks.
Still the vast majority will behaviour in a dignified manner showing that most RL fans are decent people.
I am in fear of what could happen, someone on the Saints forum said something along the lines of "I hope the drunk chavs manage to keep quiet through the silence because they had not managed at the last one" this is not a quote but that was the gist of what i read. Now some of these lads are young daft and full of beer, they may have tagged along for the night and not even support RL but if one where near me and they intereupted the silence i would find it impossible to ignore and i really dont want to get banned for lamping a fool. Also on this say someone decides to go to the game with their family say and doesnt realise what is going on and they have a mobile in their pocket that go's off in the middle of it, drunk fan takes offence and starts to beat 7 shades out of man who is only guilty of not knowing what was happening.
I know these are a strange set of circumstances that probably wont happen, im sure if someone told me at the end of last season "by the middle of next season 2 wakey players will be passed away" i would think they where barking.
The staying behind would br great but i would love to see
everyone in the ground chanting "One Leon Walker" straight after the silence and that go's for every game not just us.
Lets make sure his family knows that we care.
