I don't think that would matter.
If Cas did what you said they'd still have people picking up on the issues (same as we will) so it's not like they can con an A grade.

I hope they get to develop, they have plenty of space whether it's Wheldon Road or elsewhere but they don't have problems getting people in so it's not as urgent for them.

And to be honest, no one knows what the criteria will be for IMG so it's all guess work.

The issue around criteria is THE biggest uncertainty.
Ultimately, depending on who has the ear of IMG, criteria can be manipulated promote whichever club(s) suit their agenda and this will depend on their ultimate vision of what RL "needs".
The scary thing is that only a few years ago, we were all told that the 3 x 8 structure was the way forward and this was "sold" to the SL and Championship clubs.
The same could well happen with IMG. Their knowledge of the game is no better than their predecessors and, as such, could produce yet another poor situation for the game.
Having said that, aligning our season to the NRL and having a proper international program is a good start.
However, if they want to increase the footprint of SL, then clubs like Newcastle will be elevated by whatever means are necessary. Equally, if they start deducting points for proximity to other clubs, it could be catastrophic from clubs like ours.

Certainly moving at a pace. I think it was just a week ago I pointed out the 7th roof post was being positioned, now the 10th post is ready, but it’s also noticeable that extensive steelwork has been done towards the rear of the stand. Once the main framework has been done, there is still a great deal of work to do. Will the upper floor Need laying before the roof is fitted, it will be awkward to lift the concrete terrace steps onto the base girders due to restricted space, it’s looking good now, how good will it look when the terrace is in place. :D

I'm feeling quite excited about how it will look now.

Sorry Avenger I know your just trying to get a discussion going but every bit of that is wrong.

Who says Axiom will pay? I seriously doubt they will unless there is a sudden need to. We only got paid because the need to develop another site made NM suddenly important regardless planning.

There are virtually no restrictions on the Cas Vegas site, so there is no rush, Axion can sit on that land for decades as YC would have done were it not for a series of fortunate events.

Assuming they get 8 million, and who says they will, they won’t get the grandstand we now have, it will have doubled in cost. Remember we ordered most of our material before the worst of it.

The idea of spreading the money around the site simply fails to grasp what IMG and the RFL want. Attendances matter of course they do but both clubs currently have capacities they rarely trouble.

The issue with BV and even more so Wheldon road is that they are facility poor! We didn’t build the East stand as the state of the art structure it for its capacity. We built it to give us SL facilities to match the top clubs.

Cas need to do exactly the same, a stand identical to ours, new floodlights, a screen and eventually a new pitch. Without these they can’t compete and are doomed.

I reckon to do what we’ve done, it would now cost Cas upwards of 15 million. And they still wouldn’t have the earning potential of the flats added on. They won’t get close to that from Axion imho.

They are totally stuffed and im. It gloating, because no Cas is a bad thing for us.

Yes all that is correct and even if things dropped into place today for them they would still be at the very least 2 years behind us and costs far greater just achieve the same.

However looking back over this whole saga I still remember that letter Richard Wright sent to the planning inspectorate during the consultation hearing. It basically said Wakefield do not need a new stadium at Newmarket because they can use Castlefords new stadium which is to be built at Glasshoughton. Many thought they were well infront of us back then, strange how things have turned around

Just been up this morning to have a good look . A couple of things stood out, firstly when the front bit of the lid is in place I think the stand will be higher than the old North Stand.

Secondly stood at the Donny road turnstiles and looking across , the stand and new lights gave me a different perspective about the place. It seemed to give a lift to the other parts of the ground and the boxes and rollin shack looked better and seemed to blend in well with this development.

Plus one for Vasty if he reads this. Do you know if there are plans to tart up the Donny Road turnstiles . Think it would be a little cost and they would blend in better . This area of the ground is the main bit everyone passing sees, its like the shop window. In their present state they will stick out like a sore thumb.

Yep I suggested this a couple of weeks ago when I went past. Not sure if it's in the scheme of works but would make a huge difference on the perception of the whole place from Donny Road

Just driven by the ground. Steel structure is bigger than I was expecting. Really excited how things are progressing.
