I don't care if we win, lose or draw as long as the team gives 100% every week and each player wears the shirt with pride.

He didn't look fit but you could tell he had class. Bosses his players around, moved the forwards into positions, good hands.

Shame we didn't sign him as when he's 100% match fit, he'll be a class act.

Taking all the circumstances into account I thought he looked very classy. Thoughtful, incisive handling (lacking finess in execution on occasions) - very strong in contact, aggressive in defence, assertive in managing his team on offence.

I think we got of lightly getting the fixture out the way b4 he is fit and understands their patterns.

Assuming he stays and gets fit I predict he will be a real stand out player in super league. Would have been an awesom addition to our pack.

Exactly.

If I were Atkins I'd be thinking why am I not being described as awsome considering I played 80 mins, tackles like a deamon and did everything right.

Yet instead in true Trinity style we wet ourselves over a single Aussie who had a half decent start but may well implode due to off field issues.

I'm really peed off with this thread. We see our team produce yet another top notch effort but it's all about Bird. This is Bird a player who as yet has done sod all in SL but hey let's all look over the fence and rue what we haven't got instead of praising what we have.

To all the star gazers on this thread I ask a simple question, which of our under achieving squad would you sacrifice to fit in this Dame Edna level megastar?

Logically I'd drop JD for him as he's probably make a better utility player.
Yes folks this is what we are talking about here or you could go for Gleeson or Atkins or even Martin the choice is yours.

I haven't seen a more out of shape rugby league player since Solomona, but there were no glimpses of Solo's brilliance. I can only say from what I saw, and I didn't see much.

It is a thread called 'Greg Bird', and we don't have to want them in our side to appreciate the skill they offer - which is substantial in his case.

In no thread have I made one negative comment about our side from yesterday, made one suggestion of dropping, changing or getting rid of any player - but yes, I though Greg Bird was fantastic, but that is my opinion and you are entitled to yours.[/b]

Not at all, if we had said he will do crap in SL and then he goes on to be a class act maybe but all we are saying is that he was not all that good yesterday.

Given that the guy is not match fit, has had very few training sessions with his new team, has just flown once round the world and was probably suffering from jet lag, it's a little unfair to expect him to turn in a match-winning performance. No one even expected him to play, so the surprise factor, plus the fact he is a player we were interested in signing, makes comment about him justified.

From the clips I've seen of him, he's clearly an outstanding player. That said, in many respects I'm glad we didn't get him, as I could see us having difficulties fitting him in, in the same way that we seem to have had difficulties making the Drew/Brough partnership work.

I'm absolutely delighted that our young guns and home-based talents are going so well this season. There are a number of threads commenting about individual players, though, and a number of threads heaping praise on the team as a whole for another outstanding "against the odds" performance.

The impact that Bird will have on SL will probably depend more on the Ausralian courts than the player himself, though.

Come off it Vasty, when you open a thread titled 'Greg Bird' you have to expect that people will be discussing the performance of ........ wait for it ............ Greg Bird. Save yourself getting upset by reading about him by only opening threads that are not about him.

What about Dean Widders on Saturday night! His gut was up their with the unfit players of this season bigstyle.

Looked very ordinary and totally unfit.
