Coming late into the thread but I thought the performance matched the need. It wasn’t a game to start throwing the ball about (despite Bibeys’ best efforts!). Controlled, patient and striking when the opportunity arose was the key. My only issue with the play was the amount of effort the team were putting into trying to barge through a very big pack to score. Blanch had acres of space for much of the second half when close to the try line yet was only utilised once which he scored from. One on one, I would back him to score every time.

Defensively the team performed as a unit and were very strong. I thought Murphy had an excellent game with his man and ball tackles and opportunist try. Ferguson made good yards and looks very powerful. I couldn’t fault the effort of any of the players and commend them their generally good discipline, especially against one of the more cynical opposition performances I have seen.

I hope the team put the same effort in again next week, otherwise I can see Celtics first win of the season being broadcast live on Sky!! [Ever the optimist]

Wasn't at the game, but some other Catalan fans were and am glad to report they got well treat by you lot. Thanks!

(Enough people come on here moaning, not enough with praise).

Oh ... and good win.

if you looked at alot of our play today we were running up our own backsides at times in circles if you like. brough was on but looked a bit off the pace, when we get our halves back in control then i think wel see much better, telling folk where to run and finding them. the players who are there are doing a good job but its hard to dictate a game when your not used to playing there. this is why i thought it was scrappy and maybe lacked flow at times if we get this flow when theyre back then i can only see us getting better
i don't know how you noticed so much of the game , didn't think the view was that good from the bar. of course brough would look off the pace, he hasn't played for months. i thought the boys that were out there did a fantastic job, and should be praised for it. if we had thrown the ball about and lost, i am sure there would have been plenty on here to criticise. take the win, be grateful and be proud. p.s what happened to the new positive you.?

do you know i have to agree with mopsey on this we did enough to get the win and we showed guts , im not knocking the team i think we have been fantastic all season but that was probably our poorest display this year

cant agree with that DD i thought in the second half when a very big, capable pack put us under a lot of pressure we refused to buckle and didn't concede any points at all. that to me is equally as important as playing some attractive attacking rugby and should be lauded in equal measure. catalans whilst not at their best were extremely determined to win, ask hendo :) who got some right hammer in that second half. they kept us penned into our own half repeatedly and were getting riled when they couldn't find a way through. this wasn't a case of brushing past a divided half assed team like warrington, and yet we still put 20 points between us. best performance of year imo and still without many supposedly key players.

"In fairness the Wildcats spluttered sporadically. When they were good they were very, very good and when they weren’t - they gave away penalties."

Only flew home from the match last night so I wasn't able to comment on the thread earlier.

IMHO I thought this was one of the most professional performances I have seen from Wakey in a long, long time. It was one of those types of performances that distinguishes a good side from a potential champion side.

Catalan are a very good side, end of. After weathering Wakey's great early start Catalan, being a quality side, were able to identify a chink in our armour and to expoit it, enabling them to take the initiative and finish the half the strongest.

To negate there attacking threat and nil Catalan in the second-half took an outstanding, herculean effort.

I left the game totally lifted, with such a sense of pride in the team. My only disappointment was that such a performance deserves a full Belle Vue.
