It is a thread called 'Greg Bird', and we don't have to want them in our side to appreciate the skill they offer - which is substantial in his case.
In no thread have I made one negative comment about our side from yesterday, made one suggestion of dropping, changing or getting rid of any player - but yes, I though Greg Bird was fantastic, but that is my opinion and you are entitled to yours.[/b]
I'm not digging at you in particular or anyone in general it just happens you used the expression "awesome" which from you seemed way OTT as I have to say is "fantastic" he just wasn't IMHO. I'm just amazed that we have a thread this long as regards one player who doesn't play for us whilst Fergusons has limped to two pages - where is the logic I just don't get it. Yes it is all about opinion and mine is that I can't see how he has warranted such adulation on that one showing, he just didn't.
Clearly Bird is a good player by reputation and showed glimpses but he hasn't earned it in SL yet and there is no guarantee he will. Trent Barrett was a decent SL but he never IMO quite lived up to the billing. I just think we are too quick to praise them just because they do what they are supposed to do, I saw nothing that was extraordinary or much better than was on offer elsewhere. The fact that he had just arrived is a red herring IMHO, in a way it's easier for a player to do that as he has nothing to lose, it's a ready made excuse. See how he goes in 6 games time or even if he is still here.
Yes I would sign him if he became available in the close season, but for now he is not a Trinity player and that doesn't bother me and if he proves a great buy for Catalan that doesn't bother me either.
I'm happy with what we have, I'm a simple old fool like that. Finally your opinion is always most welcome in my book and always will be even when it gets a bit flowery
