I admire your confidence in our local players Vasty, and would love to have a 1-17 of home grown talent, but can't see this happening for a while, but not sure about the smarter than Miller tag. At the peak of our good run, other clubs were talking of Miller and how good he is becoming. He was really struggling in that final third of the season with his injury, and you could tell.I also think he was also the on field spark we had in 2015, that slowly turned us around.

As for me and Aussie blindness, you forgot the French blindness by the way, I do believe that there are too many overseas players in our leagues these days, and have said so for a number of years. I am not against overseas players but less of them. I think we have a quantity over quality issue, overall in overseas imports. I honestly believe it has had a negative impact on our national side. Just prior to Super League starting, I think is the time as to when we challenged the Aussies and weren't that far off. There was a limit of I think 3, but those 3 in most sides were all pretty decent. I think players tend to play better when the players around them are of a higher calibre.

Going back to Wood, I think that a half back peaks around 25-26, Wood, as you say is 28. When he was with us in his previous spell, got a chance to show how good he was, along with John and Smith. Unfortunately, it took, what was a good signing of Paul Sykes, an ageing utility player, for us to see any spark during that season, and he ended up being the stand off. Wood got a fair amount of chances to shine, but for me, he just didn't seem to create enough.

Again, I hope he is back up to the halves, and maybe hooker, and when he does get a chance, I hope I am proven wrong.

I don't get the local lad thing any more. The world has changed.
You no longer get lads from Sharlston only playing for Wakefield, Cas or Fev. They move around for jobs same as the rest of us.

Club trained is the phrase I would use now.
We need people who have been part of our set up since they were young, whether we brought them in from Cumbria at 16 or they lived in Stanley all their lives.

Cant disagree with you there but, there is nothing better than seeing the likes of Jowitt, Crowther and Johnstone pulling on a Trinity shirt and doing it justice every time they take the field.
I suppose that when they are Wakefield lads, you know that they wont be homesick or feigning injury, they play because they want to play for Trinity.
I know all the players are professional and are doing a job that they get paid to do but, if we could clone the spirit (or tackling technique) of Nigel Bell, from 1 - 17, we wouldn't go far wrong.
It's something that you see with the Wigan lads and although they are perhaps nervous of getting on the wrong side of Wane, it's clear that they give everything for the club and the shirt.

I don't know what you or eastern are on about nobody has said anything about local lads, I think you've both just made that up. My only stipulation for an overseas player is that he is better than what we have here or what's the point.

I'm more than happy to watch overseseas players at Wakefield but far to many have not been worth the effort imho.

Hope the Huby and Allgood. Rumours are true. If both fit we will have good strength in depth in the pack :D

I want the same thing too, us to have a good squad that is competetive.

Odd player from a basement club I can understand, but I think we have taken more than players than any other club. As for Wood and Grix, I just hope that these two will be back up players more than anything.

I hope to be proved wrong regarding my recent thoughts on Huby. As I have said in the past, I have rated him in the past, but I try not to look back too far when it comes to players. He did, the last few games he played for Huddersfield look out of condition.

Yes I don't get this basement club tag. It wasn't long ago that you were mentioning quite a few Hull KR players like Larroyer, Lunt Boudebza & Walker and they got demoted. Also it's only a few years ago that Hudds were raiding one of the bottom Clubs and taking their players, us. It didn't do them any harm.

As for Huby I'll trust CC & Kear to be able to judge whether he's out of shape or not and worth signing. He had a below average season for Hudds but that doesn't turn him into a poor player. Also with a couple of different injuries as well as the Ferres thing, he had a few things going on last year.

Yes I did mention a few Hull KR players.

I mentioned Lunt and he is super league standards and it just shows his morals and wanted to stay loyal.

Walker must have done something right in attracting St Helens.

As for Boudebza and Laroyer, they are decent honest grafters who arent that bad. Initially we were looking to back up Moore so would fit the bill. Probably not over high contracts either and known to Chester.

If I am being honest I thought Hull KRs best prop was Greenwood last year but still very young. I dont think props come of age until about 27.

That's my point, just because they were in a poor team last year doesn't make them individually poor players, same as the likes of Huby, Wood & Grix. I too thought Lunt and Walker especially would be good signings and even Boudebza might be worth a shout at the right price.

If Rugby League Rocks, then Hull KR is its Soul.

Re: Five New Signings : Mon Nov 28, 2016 9:35 pm
Last year you need to remember we had horrendous injuries at Hull KR and lost Campese for most of the season and justifiably dropped Kelly at a crucial time for disciplinary reasons after he shat on us big time.

Back on topic. John Boudebza definitely worth a punt, Larroyer is useless and Allgood is a solid and brave prop who played injured last season with very good defence and half decent go forward.
