I suppose the result in a way did not matter as we could not climb any higher unless there was a mighty scoreline on the Hull derby. So it would have been nice to see the Bopper knocking over the drop goal in the last minute, but really we had two more drives in the set of 6 and could have had a better chance of winning. But I won`t begrudge Dave leaving on that decision. Has his chip and take nearly paid off earlier in the half.
He will be a tough player to replace in the pack.
Id go as far to say big Dave is irreplaceable , not just for his presence and lifting of the team when on the pitch but the interaction between him and the fans both on and off the field . Watched the game a long time and never seen anyone quite like him , ind don’t think I will again ,Yes arguably better players have graced our club but none that was so rounded in all departments .He’s an anomaly in a game where all the fun and laughter is often trained out of players to a point where they are almost robotic , but big dave stuck to his guns and we are all thankful for that, and for his time with us
