Yeah they were, but it was a finger in the dyke job, it was a multi million £ development, £7m wasn't going to make much difference if they were in trouble. A senior worker for Shepherds who are the construction company on the job told us about 6 months ago that they were worried that it wouldn't reach completion, but that they would just keep working until told to stop, it seems they've been told to stop.
The whole development has been plagued with rumours that it wouldn't be completed from the day work started, if it's true, and I've no reason to doubt it, this will be a disaster for Wakefield, so many business's have been hit by the disruption of all the buliding work in the city and many of them have been holding on to the thought that completion would help them recover, I can see more than a few going to the wall.
