Our Squad! : Sat Apr 18, 2009 11:24 am
Is the best I can remember since 1979.

Last night we lost Ryan Atkins just before the game (again), Aaron Murphy stood in and did a fine job (glad for him).

We are still missing Obst, Rooney, Stosic, Bibey and have George, Winterstein and Petersen to come back in when required.

Each and everyone has proved their ability to play at SL level and we seem capable of mixing the team up as needed without losing too much quality or cohesion.

I would say so over the entire squad.

Some pratt behind me moaning about Murphy last night may not agree

Murphy has done a great job, people need to remember he is a young lad learning his game.

Ironically i didn't think he had the best game last night but his bravery at the end when he dived on the loose ball under the sticks was awesome

So whats our strongest team?

If everyones fit and in form my pick is:
Blaymire
Blanch
martin
Atkins
Petersen
Rooney
Brough
Wilkes
Drew
Stosic
Ferguson
Snitch
JD

Obst
Pitts
Sculthorpe
Moore

Thats harsh on some very good players who don't make the 17 but thats the sign of a strong squad.

Grix, Leo Latu, Bibey, Bibb, Murphy, George, Winterstein, Southernwood

Agree with all of that especially the last part..

I'd add to that and say we've the best coach we've had in that time too and obviously all who assist JK. We've already had a half-back crisis and a forward crisis this season and coped as you say without losing too much in way of performance or results, that has to be a great complement to the coaching staff.

This group are an absolute joy to watch, I just wish the public of Wakefield would come out in force and support JK and the boys, because for me that is the only thing anyone to do with Wakey can be down about at the moment, everything else is looking so positive..

Swap Murphy and Petersen( from what i've seen so far) around for me, other than that i would agree.

To a certain extent it doesn't seem to matter which 17 is playing. They all play with the same philosphy, 'hunger, desire, determination and pride for one another'.

This is the best squad i can remember following coupled with the best coach and backroom team. All i ask is the lads continue to play the game with the same heart and desire currently on show and i'll be happy whatever the result and position we finish.
