Watching the Leigh game last night I thought yes it is a nice ground but I felt like it had just been builT for the sake of it; just a new ground with no character new grounds like Swansea , Mk Dons they are the same design boring nothing about them. Don't get me wrong it is good for Leigh but even though the old ground was a toilet it had character. We must be careful I hope we have some character to ours. Yes anything is good with the franchise but I don't want just a ground for the sake of it in the middle of a field. We need something unique something that says WILDCATS! something that says TRINITY! something that says WAKEFIELD! A wildcat statue on each corner of the ground perhaps ha ha ? But hope you know what I mean.

Nothing says Wakefield wildcats like pitch black loos!!!

How about getting the floodlight stanchions in each corner to somehow resemble a stick of rhubarb? Or how about surrounding the stadium with a great big security fence paying homage to our friends currently residing in our city at Her Majesty's pleasure.

Character is something that is developed over time IMO. Something could look aesthetically pleasing but it will still be soulless until enough years have passed for it to develop the little quirks that people are so fond of.

Wakefield are not really in a position to be wasting time on luxuries, they need a stadium to meet the minimum requirements pronto, if that means four boxes around a patch of turf then so be it. Fancy stuff can be added later.

Quite right - you can't manufacture it.

Plus it's down to the inhabitants to make their memories and create the atmosphere.

If we can fill it from the start then it will generate it's own 'soul'. If it's half empty, then it can be in danger of always being remembered that way.

Very much so. Belle Vue is just a load of concrete with some grass in the middle - the players and glories of the past make it the 'special' place it is. Most stadia are the same - if te new one looks like a soulless concrete shoe box so be it, it'll become much more than that as the years pass...

I'm sorry, you are forgetting the broccoli tree and the daddy cool face painting tressle table. Quality touches like that add character.

Am i really the only one who will be gutted when the old place is gone went to the JJB at the start of the season and swanky it might be but it lacks the heart that BV has I want to STAND shoulder to shoulder with people who love the game as much as i do. (and of course hate the ref/other team)
