Sam Tomkins : Sun Feb 21, 2010 11:25 am
For all of his quality, and I must admit for a youngster he is quality.

But...

Does anyone else hate the way he controls himself on the pitch, yes I understand he is just a kid but he whinges so much it grates on me!
Even when we played that friendly he kept crying his eyes out, and spitting his dummy away the whole game.

Brough does the same as do most half backs. What a play to win the game though last night, pure quality.

It was a different class, I was very reluctant to post this due to that alone!

I just think his antics are much more childish than others, it just annoys me sometimes

I can understand peoples dislike of him, he is a quality young player who plays with his heart on his sleeve and plays with his emotion. All the great halves need that in my opinion and coincidentally enough not many are universally liked by opposition fans either.

He has started slowly this year but as he proved last night he needs watching for 80 minutes or he will hurt a team, i like the international combination of Eastmond and Tomkins but i would like to see him play with Brough for a slightly different style of combination vs France later in the year.

I bet you would as we play a day after which would most likely mean brough not been involved in the game and therefore I don't want brough selected and want as many wigan players included as possible so continue to do well up until then please. I'd rather look after Wakefield's interest than that of the international side.

I am the other way personally, i hope bags of Wigan players are selected even if it does mean missing the game, although i would expect some to be in a position to back it up given it is being played in England. I would like both Wigan and Wakefield to be well represented as it would mean both clubs going well.

You would have thought so, but a 5th place finish last year (Wakefield getting that high was incomprehensible really at the start of the season) didn't merit any Wakefield player getting in the England side, I understand Atkins might have had a chance of playing but even so we were underrepresented in the national side, so a :ASS: to the England selection committee, the only chance I see of Wakefield having more than 1 representative in the England side vs France is if John Kear coaches them and heaven forbid that happening.

While i appreciate it was difficult to take having no representatives, who would you suggest could have got a shot, Danny Brough potentially but not sure who else and i am not sure anyone could argue with Tomkins and Eastmonds selection given how they played but i have to say if he was eligable which i think he was he was worth the nod over Myler who basically was frozen out of the Salford first team.

I don't particularly want to pick out any of our players over others in our squad but with your comment of...

Would suggest you have an idea of the players who could be picked from our side this year, full back is a problem within the squad as with wellens age/pace and briscoe's injury prone-ness, ? there is a gap available I do like Richard Owen as potentially a long term england full back, obviously both Blaymire excellent form for us last year and Murphy (I do realise he's a long shot given the number of minutes he's played there but you can't imo ignore form and it'll be interesting to see how he continues)

Ferguson young up and coming 2nd row, I do take notice of Mossop and several other young wigan players in this position (forgotten names atm) and harrison of warrington and westerman at cas but surely has to be in the reckoning, then you have moore at prop/sr as possibility albeit an outsider.
