Maybe some post-win-tinted views on here, because if we had lost, the complaint would be that he never got Cas back and so he allowed them to stifle us.

Spot on Slugg, have to say he's better than most but both sides stood offside last night and i've no doubt we would have heard that complaint.

They're wasted on the terraces with their ability to see things so clearly.

Had a chat with Kirkintilloch when he went in a bit late after a kick. Great refereeing. No harm done, not malicious but made him aware he was watching. Thought snitch was lucky three high shots in five minutes?

Good game from the ref and while we keep winning with him in charge he can ref all our games.

Liked him as a ballsy linesman and like him as a ref. He lets a lot go to the benefit of the game but doesn't let teams take the mickey.

cas were offside in their defensive line for long periods in the game. i took an interest in childs performance, he very rarely looked across the line to make sure cas were onside. He tries to put his stamp on the game and keep control and generally at the moment he is doing so. It wont be long before teams sus him out and learn his refereeing style. once they do it will only be a matter of time before he loses control of games.

to adapt an old football saying,

Rugby League is a game played with twenty-six players on the field and 10,000 referees in the stand!

I think he is very decisive and confident in his own judgement which is what makes him stand out from the other referees. I dont think it will be long before he is taking the bigger games.

Reports that this was a 'drab' game on the Beeb may in part be due to the fact that by the time we played the ball Cas were in our faces because offside wasn't properly policed - we might have been offside as well, but TBH I don't look for that! What is the point in having a linesman looking across the pitch if he doesnt help the ref? It should be the lineys job to police offside and the ref should be watching the play-the-ball.

The only thing he did wrong for me was to penalise Smurph for having a hand in when you could quite clearly see that it was being heldc in by the Cas player.
Some of you may also like to watch the markings on the pitch in future because the ref was actually going back 11 yards therefore the players in front are onside but may appear to be off. Another problem we have a lot of the time in defence is that we take about 2 steps forward at the play the ball then wait for the opposition to come to us, whereas other teams take 4, 5 or even 6 paces and then make the tackle thus they again seem to be offside. IMO we need to move up quicker as a unit and stop the yardage.
