I dont think their is an issue when he is fit. The problem would arise when after a number of games, which maybe 1, 10 or 50, his knee completely goes and he cant play for a number of weeks or months.
IF Radford is correct with his comments about it happening "every other week", it would be one hell of a gamble.
We're well used to taking players who have been recovering from injury, Pauli being a recent example but, Westerman does appear to be slightly broken.
As I said, a fantastic player when fit and motivated.

Great post wrencat, I agree, westerman is a very good player, however, if we give him a two year deal, as reported now, & he has 9 or 11 matches to go whereby he needs surgery in the close season ? We will be paying & no playing from the start ? It is one thing taking a player on after a serious injury but quite a different thing taking a player on from the start needing large surgery & re-hab !
I do however hope I am wrong & he comes proving us all wrong ?

Is it just me who's interpreting Lee Radford's comment as a throwaway jokey comment, his way of saying it's no big deal. I'm sure if it had been happening every other week it would have been well documented by Sky every time they cover a Hull game.
Just Lee's sense of humour I reckon.

The lesson here is that Lee Radford is not a Dr; and making a joke about how tough a RL player is will be fuel for the forensic medical experts on a RL forum to write off the remainder of a RL players career.

Westerman told a mate of mine, whilst he was slightly drunk last week, that he is going to Cas rather than Wakefield. Guess we will see, as it does differ from the story Hull Daily Mail put out in July. Have Wakefield announced it?

No announcement, but I speak with Joe most nights albeit mostly not Rugby related! The last I heard was he was set for Wakefield and had signed after having the options of Leeds, Cas and Wakefield - Does your friend live in Allerton Bywater?

No, he was at a lodge last week near Selby and Westerman went over to him, a bit tipsy, as he had his Hull FC polo shirt on
