Times Up Chester : Sun Jul 07, 2019 5:05 pm
Come on Mr Carter, the defence of our team is dreadful. At this rate we will be dragged into a relegation battle, we need someone to come in and organise our defence because our coaching staff are just not up to it. I wonder if Shaun Wane is available??. Our best forward was Pauli Pauli, who is rumoured to be going to Salford, its a pity our coaches arn't going instead. I feel sorry for all the fans that travelled to France it's not cheap to watch such a pitiful performance. ( I bet Castleford can't wait for friday night), so come on Michael sort it out.

Pauli Pauli cost us 3 tries with grasping at thin air in defence. No way imo was he our best forward, I would happily see him go to Salford now

What do you mean “we will be dragged into a relegation battle”? We’ve been in one ever since the CC against Widnes, the warning signs were there in that performance.

Something is clearly not going right and it needs sorting.
Mr Carter will not sack Chester so I think he should do a couple of things himself.

One thing he could try is ask Saints if he could spend some time over there and get to know all their backroom staff and methods. I am sure it would be a right eye opener for him and may help him identify what needs altering behind the scenes at our club.

He could also get someone in who is very experienced to look at our back room set up with a fresh pair of eyes and t identify the weak areas.

People say the buck stops with the coach , but coaching is a team effort and I am sure a stronger more experienced team to help out Chester would improve things.

In a disjointed season, some of the players seem to have lost the balls to man up and put a shift in. It’s all well and good laughing and giggling off the field when the performances are good; but when you’re in a hole and need to get out of the grim mire we are in, attitudes need to alter. Nigel Bell, Johnny Thompson, Ray Price never bellyached about injuries. Man the f... up and earn your pay !!!

I'm not part of the Chester out brigade just yet and am backing him to turn things around. That said I do hope MC/the board are pushing him though and not allowing a free ride - questions need to be asked about us not being able to do the basics right and the attitude in some of the games this year (Catalan, London x2, Salford away etc).

I get injuries have played a part, but it doesn't excuse some of the drivel we have been served this year.

EVENTUALLY, WE'LL WIN SOMETHING, ,MAYBE, IF I'M STILL ALIVE THEN

Re: Times Up Chester : Mon Jul 08, 2019 3:34 pm
I think one of the problems this year has been the tightness of the league, so for a long time there wasn't an issue as we were always within touching distance of the top 5, with many players due back from injury. The same at the bottom, as within a couple of weeks we have gone from one win off the play-offs to two losses off the bottom.

Saturday cost us the play-offs in reality. Although we have the same gap between the play-off spot and the bottom, we are playing like a side in a relegation battle. Two wins will do us, I think, because that would require London and Rovers to each win five of their last eight games, which is unlikely. BUT, we could do without having to win the final game.

I don't think it's a Chester thing. I think it's a player thing, and they lost some of their fight, perhaps because we were always so near the top. Perhaps Saturday was just a focus thing, because it was clear from their instagram stories that they spend two days doing the full tourist sightseeing. What is apparent that none of the players have posted an instagram story since Saturday, so hopefully there's a renewed focus.

Fifita has just posted a photo on his Instagram with his left foot in a boot.

Your last paragraph demonstrates exactly why it’s a Chester thing. Lost their fight? It’s down to the coach. No focus? It’s down to the coach. I’ve said before that I like Chester and think he’s done a brilliant job for us but we’re in a hole at the moment and it’s up to the coach to get us out of it. If players have lost their fight or aren’t focused he needs to deal with that.
