I suspect we’d find a level somewhere similar to Halifax

We wouldn’t trouble the promotion places but might intermittently reach the play offs every few seasons.

With no SL money I suspect we can’t afford the interest payments on the Council Stadium loan, let alone the refurbishment or rebuild costs.

We couldn’t hold onto home grown players like Tom Johnstone, Jordan Crowther, Max Jowitt, James Bachelor etc

Neither would we hold onto just about any of our current squad, players like Tupou, Ashurst, Fifita, Arona, Lyne, Hampshire would get snapped up by other SL teams or the promoted club, while some like Miller Tanginoa would probably go back down under

We might hold onto a few who are at the end of their careers such as Wood, Hirst, BJB, Arundel and maybe Kirmond would give us a season in the Championship

It’s very doubtful that we’d run a scholarship or an Academy and our Community team would be reduced to next to nothing.

Without a wealthy owner, I see no way of escaping a a decreasing level of funding until we reach a sustainable level somewhere mid table in the Championship.

I don’t see the same circumstances of 1998 ever occurring again and even if we found another Andy Kelly type figure to expertly recruit, coach & lead a team to the top, we wouldn’t be allowed back in SL while at Belle Vue.

Sorry it looks bleak but that’s probably the reality of it.

Very good post!

Players should be held to contract and take a drop in wages to suit they might think again about the situation the club's in

Lets hope this message is being hammered home to the players by MC and CC. That's when they're all back from holidays obviously.

I do hope so. They like the adulation that comes with success. It's only the coaches and players that can pull us out of this mess. Players and staff move on, fans stay with the club.

There was a lot to be said about the old winning pay/losing pay system. I don't know if clubs are allowed to utilise any form of win bonuses these days but they were certainly an incentive in their day.

To answer the op, relegation would probably be terminal.
Unless there are funds already in place to develop the ground, our massively reduced income would prevent BV ever getting up to SL standard.
We've been receiving dispensation (and reduced Sky monies) for the state of the ground for a while now and despite London getting some allowance for their facilities, there is no way that we would be allowed back in.
Therefore, the best that we could hope for would be as a top 6 Championship club, with zero prospect of promotion.

It breaks my heart to see where we are heading and our future looks just as bad as it appeared when licensing was all the rage.

Unless there are 4/5 new players coming in and some help for Chester, we look utterly screwed.
It's bloody depressing :DEPRESSED:

Relegation would be catastrophic. We would not be able to run all the things we currently do, especially as I believe MC said he would not be involved outside of SL

Well what you believe is correct, MC has consistently said he is only interested in the club as long as it’s in Super League.
I wonder why that is the case, could it be that he is nothing more than an attention seeking Gloryboy, once the club can’t give him the oxygen of profile he craves he will be off like a shot.

I don’t know what goes off behind 5he scenes but I do know that Michael Carter and Chris B worked their socks off to get the club on an even keel and with a better reputation by paying of historical debt etc. There’s been no ccj,s etc whereas there was a new one every week with the last lot who run the club. I like everyone are really disappointed with how the season has planned out and honestly believe if we had had some luck other than bad luck with the injuries then we would have been h8me and dry now. Having said that the opening game against london and home games against Leeds and hull kr are games we should have won. I’ll keep the faith, it ain’t over TIL the fat lady sings. Without MC the club would have been under ages ago .
