Oh we'd get it alright, both barrels. We'd be lambasted to eternity for bringing the game into disrepute.

I suppose our only saving grace would be that London have already beaten fuller strength Wakefield teams on two occasions this season, so technically it wouldn't matter which team we put out.

We just have to hope that we dont actually need the win on the last day.

There's something very wrong with the rules when a team can play virtually their second team and influence a result as happened with the Saints second match v London.I said at the time that it is possible to manipulate the league and some of the comments on this thread, although maybe not meant to be taken too seriously, bear that out.Something needs to be done IMO but not sure how.

The next game will show if we have actually turned the corner. I don’t think the result will change our survival but how we perform will be the defining factor. I know Chester basked in the performance of Brough but this was one game out of ten and I will reserve my view until he can show consistency (good not bad).

I agree we thought we'd turned it around when we beat Hudds convincingly after which we couldn't beg a win. For me, Brough did nothing special so if CC still thinks he's the key I remained concerned. The pack improved dramatically as did Miller, CC needs to remove his Brough blinkers but that's just my opinion.

I don't think Brough did anything more than he normally does.
What he actually did was less.
Chester said he wanted more running from the half backs and more options.
What Brough did was get out of the way so Miller and Escare could do exactly that.

Worked well. I hope he does less again and shares the load.

I suppose I'm thinking more about Brough next year than this. Should we stop up I don't think Brough is the player we need if we are to avoid a repeat of this. I just can't see him regaining the form he has managed erratically this season let alone improving and he needs to IMO, they all do but age is not on his side. we need another halfback, we have one in Hampshire.

I don't get Chester's problem here, he's not as good as some of the more OTT posters on here would have us believe I accept but he's a very good and quite advanced work in progress. He's wasted on the wings that's for sure.

That is, IMO, a very astute analysis.

Broughy is a winner - he wants to win every tiny aspect of every game he plays - which means he naturally wants to be involved in everything, as he has more faith in his own abilities than in anyone else's. Not necessarily bad qualities in a HB - they have to be confident to the point of arrogance, and have belief in their own abilities - everything goes through them after all. But the reality these days is that Broughy is no longer as good as he once was - so doing less is actually doing more, in that it achieves two things: 1) brings other players into the game and 2) makes us less predictable in attack.

Good call PT - I watched the game back, and that didn't occur to me until you said it.

I think he kicked the ball a lot better than he has done all season and I also noticed he was taking the ball right to the line and putting his body on the line which is something he has not seemed to commit himself to this season.

I do agree though, he did seem to let go of the reins a little bit.

That's very kind. I have my moments.
Watch out for my next one in Feb 2026.

Good point but can that work for a whole season and a year older, have tbh I have my doubts.
