Totally wrong team by bennett to many players playing on rep..mcgivery and hall are both finished..sutton burgess watts and graham as good as they are not 9s players..a player who could of shone and been perfect for him ryan hampshire

If you watch the RU 7s , it’s the only part of union I watch, every man has pace and cracking feet. I’ve not watched any 9s yet but recorded them so will give my professional judgement when I have :D

two shocking selections that wouldn't make my team, as much as I detest Tompkins he was one of our best players for agility there the type of players you need rather than the muscle bound plodders

Yep agreed.
Hall and McG are not made for this game.

Tomkins & Clarke were the right type of plsyer
Running second rowers in the pack like Bateman.
Austin wasn't really the guy either. Hastings far better.

And yes I can't think of many players that would have suited it more than Hampshire.

I guess the GB games coming up and some injuries disrupted the selection but other teams didn't only select rep players, they pivk the most appropriate players.

Thought the concept was really good and I enjoyed the Women's games too.

Agree., I played a load of RU 7's and the rule of thumb in that game was get rid of the puddings (or in RL's case the 6ft 4 18 stone lads), put the fastest big lads in the pack and then put your quickest lads in the backs. The whole game is based on pace, creating gaps for your fastest men to run into.
It's a shame Tom is injured because this game is made for him, and as you say Hampshire would have been miles better than most out there.Guys like Charnely, Grace, Marshall etc should have been playing especially with makinson and Tom out, the other 2 are carthorses nowadays.

ATEOTD we played it like 13 a side RL where the others played it more like RU 7's.

I don't like saying this, but Reece Lyne was crap and looked a right plodder.Due to the form he was in for the last part of the season I was surprised he got anywhere near England and his performance's,imo, backed this up.Unfortunately, since he bulked up, he has lost that sharpness that 9's demands and strangely he was a liability in the tackle, getting brushed off quite regularly, as far as I could see.Sorry Reece, but that's how I saw it.

That's just as I saw it MKT he looked unhappy, alone, certainly looked out of place whether the nerves got to him I don't know but he was bad he never once came looking for the ball & his tackling........ I was looking forward to him stepping up but alas he didn't. That's why he probably didn't get picked at all in the last game he'd got changed & ready for home so sad

Agree thats why i think rocky would of gone well.like others said england treated like 13s wheres other teams treated it more like 7s.think graham is a fantastic players but he not known for speed.i woukd of played hall and magivery as forwards rather than put on wing.only to look at Australia ado carr dont or hasnt up to now played test match rugby( to my knowledge)but cos of his raw speed he was a star in this format.

On reece i felt sorry for him he got very little ball as if he was that odd kid out
