Any thoughts hes been told hes released by warriors did well for hull kr and wigan over here and would certainly organise us better and time to strike while still available before a salford or hull kr move for him if cheap enough for our budget

I'd take him in a heart beat but I'm thinking we haven't got that kind of money right now.

Would be great for us. Exactly what we need

But we are going to be saying this for a long while out of our price range.

Catalans seem the only club that will be spending big for the next few seasons .

get on them to win the comp next year

I think we can consider ourselves extremely lucky if we can continue with the players we already have!

Agreed.

Just watched the film about Brian Clough and his Forrest team of the 1970’s.

The world has changed but not much, it is still possible to create rather than buy.

What I never realised was how quickly Clough took Forrest from second division no hopers to champions, two seasons!

He did it with ten existing players, and a bunch of signings nobody else would touch with a barge pole.

They all had one thing in common, they could play a bit. Bit is the keyword because all Clough did was convince them they could play a lot. Individually most were nothing but as a unit, wow.

Well worth a watch if you wanna know how it’s done or you’ve given up hope.

Apart from the debacle at Leeds, Clough has always been a star.
Kear is a more educated rugby version of him to me.
The similarity of the two is that they are best with a right hand technical man.
Peter Taylor was a great partner for Clough, just as Chester worked well with Kear.
On their own they are still good but miss that little extra. Clough knew he needed Taylor.

For me the only real similarity between Kear and Clough is that they do have personality and thus the ability think for themselves, styles for me are different.

I agree regarding Taylor. For me the true signs of a great leader is the ability to recognise your weaknesses as well as your strengths. Clough did and Taylor did what he couldn’t. Two became one.

I don’t think it quite the same with Chester and Kear, in that so far Chester has yet to break out in the way Clough did. Kear though is a proven product. That said I do think that when Kear was helping Chester we looked better, although I doubt Kears presence would have made any difference in 2019, a season that started of brilliantly for Chester only to see him robbed through injury and some poor responses from some players.

On balance I’d say Clough/Taylor was true partnership and essential to both whilst Chester/Kear was good whilst it lasted.

Maybe before your time but Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison was another great partnership.
