I found this interview with Steve Michaels pretty heartening. Trouble is I'm starting to think that if our new coach joins the ever increasing line of failures in that position, I doubt anyone can sort us out. He appears to be our best hope and will prove to be I hope an inspired appointment!

Will we be a top 4 team? No. I imagine we'll still be a bottom 6 team, but I'd like to think we'll be 'in' more games next year.
Last season was the perfect storm, a coach at the end of his shelf life and an incredibly bad recruitment cycle. No way we are that stinky next year.

Certainly feels like the last chance saloon to finally instill a good culture at the club.
If Cartwright can't turn it round, not sure what options will be left to try!

I hopeful it shows that the board at Hull FC have finally found that missing piece of the puzzle and realised the importance of having a top quality Coach with a proper back room staff. Think it was blatantly obvious early on under Smith he wasn't the right man along with Gene, for me desire was severely lacking in him and that emanated and festered throughout the club which already had issues with attitude/application.
Looking at things objectively with the information to hand Cartwright is a proven and strong Coach who has been and still is very influential at the top level of the game for a very long time, he known to be very knowledgeable of game as a whole, being a good communicator, man manager, a Coach that commands respect and does not suffer fools are people who are not prepared to put in the required effort be it during a game, training or club matter.
I'm hopeful with the arrival of Cartwright the dog will now finally wag it's tail as opposed to the tail wagging the dog.
I think the majority of fans expectations are and will be realistic for 2025 with most not expecting to challenge for a top 6 spot. I think in general we all want to see improvement in the basic skill set, little effort areas & discipline for example along with evidence of structure being implemented in to the fabric of the on field side of the club.
Time will tell I guess if the rebuild process will be a success, but as always hope springs eternal.

For me, I want Cartwright to instill pride in playing, passion for winning, want to be hard to beat, be in games, not have blow out scores, super fit, hard working team and still be in with a shout of the playoffs come the last round. That's what I'm wanting from him and the players.
Do all those things and you'll have the support from the fans, show we are going in the right direction and change is happening
