Wakefield @home : Mon Jul 31, 2023 10:58 am
A few weeks ago this would have been a certain home banker, not now.

Hopefully the Hudds performance and Wakeys' emphatic win over Dire will have given the players a big kick up the backside and they cant just show up expecting to win!

Centres seem to be our only issue atm, Scott should be ok, fingers crossed either Suttcliffe or Carlos are good to go too, still all to play for (with the results past weekend teams around us losing).

A very difficult game but a must win if we are to grab 6th spot.

Hopefully Sutcliffe will be ok but if not then Carlos should be back.

I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if Lane & Dwyer weren't in the 17 to be honest. Wouldn't like Houghton to have to do a full 80 but unless Balmforth is going to be given a chance then Cator is more than capable to spell Houghton if needed. I'd like to see Staveley given an opportunity too as on current form Lane offers little and has done pretty much all season so don't see that Staveley would offer less. Lane just doesn't seem to have shown much sign of improvement at all this season.

Lane is going backwards at the club and has put in some really poor performances yet Smith continues to select him.
The only slap on the wrist seemed to be his relegation to the bench recently.
Could do with a fresh start with a Champion ship club

There biggest threat is Max Jowitt very good fullback, back from injury and there form has improved massively.

Think we need a hooking option from the bench, not sure where that comes from though, got Dywer, Lovodua amd Balmforth, but don't think Balmforth will play and Dywer too erratic.

Think I'd have Lovodua on the bench to play hooker with the option of playing other positions.

Lane must offer something that coaches see and fans don’t. As for Dwyer he must be uncoachable hence flitting from club to club and continuing headless chicken running. Think Balmforth can’t be ready for SL. Hopefully Carlos back. Savelio and Staveley if fit could be second rowers?

Wakefields jeopardy makes it an interesting game.
They’ll probably bring a fair few supporters with them as well.

Hope we see at least one new face. Can’t see it being Balmforth, so hope it’s Staveley.

Doesn't sound like Staveley will be one of them from reading HDM this morning which at the bottom of the article it states 'Nick Staveley has a knee injury'.
