Those Kiwis we had in those days were top international players and we had a few Great Britain internationals in there. It must have been a great team to watch?

I remember the excitement when we signed them. For me Kemble was the best. Leuluai was an excitement machine and O'Hara was a great finisher. O'Hara got off to a bad start. He punctured his lung in his debut at home against Cas. Rovers fans said he had a breathtaking game which I didn't find funny at the time!

Kemble was a rolls Royce of a player. Probably had his worst game for us in the 85 final following a long injury play off. Schofield was brilliant although obviously a judas

Do you think Schofield should have started in the 85 final?

And if so, would he have been in at centre instead of Evans or stand off instead of Fred? I know at that time Schofield was already the best British centre.

I always thought the Schofield thing was a strange one but Arthur didn't get many things wrong. Schofield will probably tell you if he started we would have won.

I've watched the game on YouTube against the 1982 Aussie invincibles at The Boulevard. We give them a good game. They get us in the end but we give them a contest.

Yep. I was shocked when Kenny skinned him but as you say he wasn't fit. Think Gill did him as well.

Leuluai scored one of the greatest Wembley tries which is almost forgotten because we lost.

Schofield was just leaving Hull when I first started going to games, so I understand it wrangles with you older fans but it doesn't mean that much to me. Schofield was probably my first greatest rugby league player. He was the best player in those 1990 and 1992 Ashes against the Aussies. You don't see players like him today.

I know we lost but that's one of the best Hull games I've seen. The atmosphere was brilliant. The Aussies had swept away all opposition and we expected a hammering not least because we had a stack of injuries. We gave them their toughest game of the tour. It was difficult to follow the ball because of the continual fighting in back play. It was kicking off everywhere! Crooks was fearless. He was only 19 at the time. Him and Les Boyd were at it all game.. Anyone who hasn't watched it on youtube I'd recommend it. Poor quality picture but worth it for all the scrapping!

Was anyone there at the brick throwing game? "81 I think it was. It was front page on the nationals. "Rugby Leagues day of shame" the headline was. I had it in my FC scrap book. Younger posters won't know what one is!

I was at the Airlie Street end and it all kicked off behind the goal at the other end. I well remember the ambulances and fans pouring with blood.

The good old days!

Was in Threepenny for that one and the Aussie tour match.
Great times.
Crooksie going between the posts under the nigjt sky at Elland Road below a rammed Spion Kop full of Hull fans was also class, then us beating Rovers in the John Player at Headingley are other standouts early 80's memories.

I usually stood at the Airlie Street end as I had a bad experience in Threepenny. Or to be more exact the back of it. I think it was the first game I went to as well. It was a night game and had been dry all day but strangely the rain began to fall on me and I got soaked
