We don't have players running as a "push", so there's no point in turning to offload on the break. We might as well just find the floor for a quick PTB.

I've not bothered watching it back but if tomkins ball carrying arm touched the floor then I fail to see how he can pick it up and put the ball down on the other side of his body. Say, for instance, it was 5m before the line and tomkins arm had touched the floor and he'd then passed to a team mate who had scored, it would have been deemed a pass after the tackle had been completed.

Typical of the inconsistencies we continually see

I remember us in a game passing off the floor (think it was Judas) It was a cracking pass as he went down but his elbow scraped the floor whilst someone had a finger nail on him

That try was ruled out

Briscoe and Horne both made consecutive breaks and not one player was in support.

"The mid-to-late 1980s and early-to-mid-1990s is the most successful period for the club to date, however, even without this glorious trophy laden period, Wigan would still have won more trophies than any other professional British rugby league club due to their successes throughout the club's history."

Classic. I’m seriously considering using that as my sig. Best laugh of the day, you’ve really brightened up my Monday afternoon.

what, because he's right?

If everyone in SL played like Wigoon there wouldn't be space in A&E.

I was referring to the "He's just made to look good by the protection he gets from the officials, if he played for Salford or even us he wouldn't look anywhere near as good... I just don't like him!!!" bit.

But while you brought it up. I don't think we are any cleaner or dirtier than any other side is SL.

you wouldn't, but believe the other teams in SL, you cheat consistently, be it laying on or forward passes, but you'll get what is coming eventually, we hope.

Re: Major talking points : Tue Aug 02, 2011 11:51 am
Momentum alone did not take the player over the line. He promoted the ball with a second intentional movement after the ball carrying arm had hit the ground.

The confusion seems to be coming from the fact Sam Tomkins still had momentum which would have resulted in the ball and player ending up infront of where the ball carrying arm hit the floor but the issue is that he assisted that momentum in progressing the ball forward with a second movement which he is not allowed to do after the ball carrying arm has hit the floor.

For instance is a player allowed to pass the ball after the ball carrying arm hit the ground? - no, and we've all seen tries disallowed for doing that. I'm surprised it was allowed to stand and I think it was because it was so done so obviously confidently that people questioned their own judgment. Anyway it was awarded and it did take some scoring.

From what I saw it was his non-ball carrying arm that hit the floor. Seemed a perfectly legitimate try to me.
