I agree with what you say about kids but surely a winning team challenging for trophies and hopefully winning trophies is what will bring the crowds back.
Its admirable from where we have been that Smith has got the team pulling for each other but winning is the key to all sport

Consistency of home form has long been an issue, I think it was 2012 when we had a brilliant record and then of course 2016 we had a good run. Theres been too many times where we've had a big crowd in and completely flopped and of course our frequent end of season drop offs, quite a few seasons we've ended with a whimper. Fingers crossed Smith will sort that.

Unfortunately I'd tend to agree, as TS mentioned in a recent interview he's not sure what his position is. I know he's not had a lot of rugby but would have thought with Griffins ban he would have grabbed the chance to show something but he hasn't. Shame as when he first arrived he looked to be a real find but other than his first few games he's not really shown a lot.

They really are trying, on and off the pitch and that attendance for a Saturday, was great to see. I think the supporters have gauged what we are trying to achieve and will always support honest endeavour, even when the team is getting beaten, rather than watching a humiliation, as we have all witnessed previously. Against the very top teams, we have done well this season. There are not many years we can say we have beaten Saints , Wigan, Warrington & Leeds, and while we were beaten by a better side on Saturday, they never gave up, which is all we ask. If we can make three or four good off season signings, Smith can take us up the table and to where we think we should be. I appreciate we are balancing the books, after Covid wiped out our income and nearly did for us, but according to AP, if the crowds stay healthy, it shouldn't be long before we balance things out, which is an achievement in itself, considering the parlous state that some other clubs are in, after the pandemic. If they didn't have rich, benevolent owners, they would struggle to remain solvent, given that media incomes are reducing and not many clubs attract the following we do.

its good having big forewards like cats, especially when you can lay on at every tackle and useless ref lets you get away with it.

I wonder if anyone has thought about playing him at nine?

Part of my comment after the match was

The team needs to start working on faster play the balls which seems to me to be the reason they are on the wrong end of six again calls.

If you find Smiths after match interview on Radio Humberside he does actually say its something they are going to be working on.

Something to watch out for on Sunday against HKR

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that part of our up turn in form and results has also seen us play with a greater intensity and line speed both with and without the ball. Catalan came with a game plan to slow the game down on every aspect which unfortunately Moore allowed. We were also guilty of getting sucked into the slow speed instead of being the ones dictating the speed of the game. I said at half time Catalan clearly didn’t want a quick game.

Especially when we are playing with four small forwards who are easily tackled by the opposition and dictated whilst on the floor so to get anything from the referees on six agains they have to fight to play the ball quickly which we need to be doing at every play the ball.
Think there will be a marked improvement here on Saturday
