This was a thread on VT pre-season. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=620707 Hardly anyone had us in the top five. Many more said we'd be bottom four. On Sky Sports Terry O'Connor had us finishing 8th. Their fans' poll had us 8th too. Barrie McDermott and Phill Clarke predicted a 9th placed finish for us. Given all this Mrs B is clearly spot on with her post. If we finish fifth I'd count it as a good season with a Cup semi final at least thrown in. Should we finish sixth and lose the semi it's hardly been a disaster in what most people saw as a transistional year as we see a number of players approaching the end of their time at the club.

The quote is self-explanatory. The fact that it was 8 years ago is rendered moot by the line:

"at any point in the future whilst I am the owner of this club"

The point is, since 2011 we have had some success. The top 8 was the benchmark for the playoff 8 years ago, which it no longer is.

But I appreciate your angst. Your club sacked its most successful ever coach, how did that work out?
