I don't get all this let them build their own squad stuff. When a coach takes over from a sacked coach you expect performances etc to be better than under the previous coach, or at least on a par. Our performances and results are not even equal to last season, yet some people buy this "not his team" rubbish. With the average contracts handed out now being around 3+ years it means every new coach should now be given 3+ years till they get their own team. If a coach cannot do the job with the players already there who have shown they can do better then why would you run the risk of him building his own side and taking the team further into the mire? Sadly I think he is here for the long term like Agar was and all I can envisage for 2015 is the exciting middle 8 (AKA the bottom 4)

A lot of good points there regarding new coach doing better than the previous coach with essentially the same staff.
As a team FC have been worse this year under the new coach then they were under Gentle, (based on current position and likely end of season position) So what has been the main differences in squad make up, tactics etc. There has been a lot made of the emergence of the younger players and the core of Hull born staff but is this detrimental in the short term to performance? Has the loss of the likes of Lynch impacted you?
Daryl Powell didn't need long to 'build his own team'.
I think the build your own team excuse is aload of tosh too. What does it mean anyway, the coach is incapable of adapting, or incapable recognising the strengths and weaknesses of what he's been given to work with?

Absolutely spot on. I personally can not see as things stand and looking to our remaining games how Radford's position could be tenable based on what we have seen on the pitch. You could argue that we have been extremely close in some games, on the scoreboard. But the reality is that the squad we have is simply not good enough and the players that have been brought in this season to supplement a top 6 squad that reached Wembley have been very disappointing. Players have gone backwards this season. Crooks and Lineham who were stars last season have really suffered. Ok injuries don't help, but their confidence especially Crooks has been shot to pieces. Houghton is really beginning to be found out. Whiting has not been the player we know and love. He has had bad injuries in the past, but always come back fighting fit with 100% effortThe only glaring bright spot is Westerman. The singings of Sneyd and Pryce are a big step in the right direction, but on the evidence of this year I have seen little to suggest that Radford will be able to get the best out of them. Some point to the youngsters coming through. Shaul has done well, but will need to wise up and adjust to compensate for the fact that teams have wised up to him. Lancaster looks a good prospect for the future. Cunningham will be like a new player next season, after a tough baptism of fire in London. What we don't have though is leaders who will look after the youngsters and teach them "game management". I worry about next season and beyond. I just hope AP is not being blindly led down a very dark and very long alley.
I agree with most, if not all I have read above. But, I think we should just go along for the ride and do what we always do and support the boys and the club we love.
I don't see LR getting the boot, in fact I think he will be given time (2,3 even 4 years) to build the club how he thinks fit. Do I think LR is the right man for the job long term, No. Do I think LR is the man for the job short term, No.

If it was a free ride I'd give you that but money is precious and I believe that should we continue down the Radford route our attendances will drop further as people will not waste money on the product we have on offer.
The Agar appointment did a lot of damage to the fan base of this club and it seems like history is repeating itself with another devisive coaching appointment. He's currently not up to the job and I wish both Pearson and Radford would admit to that.
Well you may throw your rock and hide your hand Workin' in the dark against your fellow man But as sure as God made black and white What's down in the dark will be brought to the light
People need to remember that Gentle had 1 thing Radford hasn't had ... A half back in DJ who if we had this year would have probably won is at least another 4 games imo of course

These two posts sum up the present situation at the club.
I would also add,How long does it take to implement the art of dummy/decoy runners?? Jon Wilkin on BBCTV indicated, St Helens practice this skill, every training session.
Judging by our performances - we obviously dont.
Our passing speed & accuracy is woeful, a good coach would work at our weaknesses, and not stop until its to an acceptable standard.
What happened to the 'playbook'???
AP stated Gentle was never a Head Coach, (however he did steer us to 6th and a Wembley final) - so what does that make Radford???

I think the crowds were heading downwards even if PG stayed, so can't put that down solely to LR imo, although the performances and results haven't helped either under LR.

LR has had time to go out and sign a HB, he had all pre-season, he has signed a lot of other players but not a HB, maybe he thought he had one to suit, so to me, that's down to LR as PG went and got a HB
