Those attendance figures are a bit distorted as we have yet to play kr at home and we filled cas's ground for them, what was their crowd last night?

5,310 last night.
I know until the season is finished its not a completely true reflection but it's an indicator of how things are going.

Would imagine last night's attendance for a local derby (5310) may put a dent in those figures.

So would I know where you are coming from but we have the derby to come yet which will put us over 11,000 for our season average and Castleford are as a club really disappointed with the gates they are getting particularly when you consider the rugby they are playing. Fact is gates ain't just about performance anymore people are walking away from the game even at Clubs that are doing well! Huddersfield at Cas? its like us playing away at Bridlinton with a motorway between, yet they took very few indeed! Just setting off for Manchester now and I bet we take more tonight than Huddersfield did last night yet there trip was an after tea outing of 28 miles and ours is a 100mile trip on a Saturday night, to a place that it takes you an hour to get out of the car park. Few Clubs travel well these days and gates are falling everywhere except perhaps Leeds.

Perhaps it's a truer reflecton to compare the current average with the same games from last season.

Last season 10,864, this season 10,400. Not massively down. Some clubs have faired better than us 2013 to 2014, some worse.

The Salford, Huddersfield and London home games were all down by well over a thousand (London almost 2,000) - probably partly down to the supporters who didn't renew their passes giving those games a miss. The Warrington attendance was up by 1,616.

Unfortunately the Cas game on a Thursday night live on Sky is unlikely to get near last season's 11,852 especially if tonight's game and next week's at Wigan don't go well.

We also had a run of 8 games all played in Hull, for people without a season pass that is a lot of money to be shelling out week after week. I imagine quite a few people would have picked & chose their games during that run.

Cas gates may not be what they expected but so far their average this season shows an increase on last. Hudds never travel well even to their own ground were you have an owner having to charge a ridiculously small amount for a pass just to attract fans.
I know the economic climate does not help but for me it's all about performances in order to attract and retain those fans that aren't just the die hard go whatever.
Currently we are suffering attendance wise so far and predominantly I'd wager it comes down to performances.
Most fans will budget for attending home games be it weekly or monthly but if they decide the product ain't worth it they won't come back and use those funds elsewhere

It does, about 700 in comparative games. That got a big boost ironically from us - this year's Cas v Hull attendance was almost 4,000 up on last season.

I would imagine many teams are grateful for our attendance at their ground. We may be many things, but shrinking violets we are not when it comes to following our boys on the road.

Heard from a good source today that Pearson and Barmby have 100% bought the birds eye site with a 14k stadium in the offing

I know, but that means nothing as such. Call PPH and ask if the land is still available.
