I guess because the truth would have potentially implicated Sean Long (it certainly would have revealed that he was also taking a banned substance). Whereas if Gleeson had claimed to have not consulted anyone, he would have been obviously negligent and so there would be no mitigation.
When Gleeson arrived we looked a different side with a proper right centre. I still had hope. Maybe James Rule did too. Doesn't excuse what he did though, it was stupid and he deserves his punishment.

even people outside the club know that Rule was only Uncle Kath's puppet

There were a few posters on here who bemoned the fools who owned us before, yet week in week out the club apologists came trotting out saying how fab Rule et al was, grade A and all that jazz.

Those guys were right you know. No wonder they dont post now

I consistently told everyone what hetherington and rule were really like and was roundly criticised for it. Thankfully, I'm a smug barsteward who will continue to remind everyone

I hope so, you stood the test of time, there were a few who posted, but they not about now, shame really

We should have a "remember them" thread....

With his 1st season being 2010 and him asking and getting the ok from Cooper it would be safe to presume he did.

He could have just asked for the OK but not actually used it you know. Planning ahead, like. :)

If he has used it recently then he's been very lucky not to get pinged during a test. Being injured so much will have helped, but players are tested outside of matches as well.

The only reason I can think, was that with Gleeson in the side,we could have had a stronger finish to
the season, therefore Rule's spin could've had some credibility for the next season pass sales, coupled with the retention of his mate 'Rich'. :LIAR:

Maybe they thought, they'd never get caught?

Or maybe Gleeson was so desperate to land a renewed contract, he gambled on a shortcut, and it failed miserably.

you have to remember that when Gleeson was caught, we'd just beaten Salford away, on the back of beaten Rovers and Warrington over the Easter weekend, and a credible draw with Saints. In James Rule/the boards eyes this was the start of our push for the title (I am convinced they had every faith in Agar) and they woulden't have wanted anything to disrupt that.

alternatively it could have been that in the boards eyes Gleeson and Cooper had made an honest mistake in trying to get a former international player back to his best. Either way they got it incredibly wrong.

You know what, Gleeson was ace, his footwork was always good, he had a good step and run hard,

I know he needed fitness and we needed that quick, but his weight wasnt really a problem! probably would have helped running that ball in hard, which so many of our players didnt do.

Yes how rotten of Gwilym to go on about a drug taking cheat and a CEO who orchestrates a cover up. Fancy a journalist going on about something trivial like that, doesn't he have anything newsworthy like a Hull FC training session he could report on?

What about the league points Hull FC picked up whilst Gleeson was cheating? FC certainly won a derby with Gleeson scoring a try. Cas lost out to Hull for a play off spot by a single point so they have grounds for complaint certainly.

It's OK Hull saying the culprits have left the club but that's not good enough. Hull benefitted by the cheating of 3 of the staff and there will have to be some pay back.

Instead of worrying about Gwilym Llloyd you should be more concerned about the repercussions that may still lie ahead.

Put the sock away, daft lad. :)

Knowing the culture at FC at the time I know many posters on here will agree that Rule would not have made this decision to cover it all up by his sen.
