Yes i know Cator was used as a13 and that was my thought process because Hodgson likes to use Lane also in that position so if we add and should add a powerful second row then Longstaff would be a good signing as an interchange second row and would be more valuable than Cator and we could afford to let him go otherwise in a fit squad Cator may find it difficult to get regular game time

If we're keeping hold of our quota space until the WC the only non quota back rowers worth looking at are Julien and poss Greenwood. Longstaff would still be my preference I think

Cator is a much better middle than Lane. Lane's best position is on the edge. This season he has played through the middle and has been largely ineffective.

Longstaff would be a squad player if signed. Everyone fit he is not in the 17. He has potential but he needs to bulk up.

I agree we need a powerful second row. Use the quota place to sign one.
