Maybe you are in the fortunate position of not having lost someone close to you.
Because i know that even at church funerals, the families wishes are one of the first things asked about the most importnat thing to consider at a memorial/funeral.
I would find it massivley surprising if HullFC didnt ask how the family how they would like to the tribute to be conducted.
Maybe your natural pesimism is to blame, but i dont think any organisation makes it public knowledge that they are consulting the recently bereaved family on how a memorial is conducted - its just a given fact that they do!
As for them being your respects, youve clearly lost the concept, its not how
YOU show them, its how you respect the wishes of how the deceased person would
WANT you to show them!
As i said before, if a family requested you wear white to a funeral, you wouldnt wear black just because thats how
YOU want to show it.
The fact you wore black would be disrespectful in its own right.
