Interesting listening to Humberside before the game. TS tactful as ever refusing to be drawn on questions re Wynne but then Lane allowed to throw himself under the bus with his daft “we owe them one” interview.
When you consider we are playing with a totally inept right edge which is rightfully targeted by the opposition, yet we still should have won that game today so you have to say under the circumstances we are doing reasonably well. I think its time that Smith either considered moving Tuimavave into the second row or bring a half fit Savelio back and play him into match fitness Whoever gave Lane a contract extension needs to give his head a wobble. Unless we have an injury crisis i cant see McIntosh back in the first team and personally it wouldnt bother me not to see him again. Barron has been 18th man on a couple of occassions but not got a game so would Martin be selected over him if Smith goes for a rookie wing next week. That said we need some pace on that edge and cant see either of them having the brain farts that McIntosh has so for me give one of them a go. We need to get a new right edge playing together before the Saints cup game as i think we have a real chance to turn them over.
You been on the happy juice. Very good post. Agree with that
Some interesting stats from the stats man. Particularly the fact we made mearly as many metres as Salford, despite having 62 less carries, that's a extra 10 sets, near impossible to win a game with that less possession. Thought we looked pretty good in attack and defence when we held the ball, we are streets ahead in both from the early rounds
Did you watch the game, just find it abit odd you mention fash and Cator when they are way down the list when you look for first team improvements.
For me its about abit of leadership and quality in a few more roles, i think our halfbacks are brilliant, but weve inconsistencies and leadership lacking in the hooking role, quality and consistency lacking in the second row, workrate lacking at times at prop, and quality out wide on the right. As well as Hoy very inconsistent.
Cator and Fash have been pretty solid.
Love to hear why youve singled those two out
They are starters every game I just don't think they will take us to the next level
Take taylor and satae out and our pack is so lightweight
Fash couldn't carry a pack like taylor did
Fash and cator that's all they are "pretty solid" at best. point proven you just said it yourself they won't take us to the next level
Lane 6 hit ups in 80 minutes, hopefully Savelio comes back soon.
When players post stats like this, how much of it is down to them being lazy or the team not using them enough? If we constantly attack down the left with Griff, Clifford, Sutcliffe and swift....then players on the right edge won't have as good stats as those on the edge that is being used more?

Its a fair point Steve, I've always said we use our backs too much, it worked when we had the likes of Faramio, Fonu and Talanoa, but we are a bit too lightweight now. All that could also be said about the forwards.
I think it must be a bit of both, I appreciate we attack more the left, but our centres both made the same amount of carries (10), while Griffin (who also had a short spell off) ,made twice as many carries than Lane

The thing is. Listening to Jordan Lane’s interviews and he realises he’s not doing the things he was a couple of years ago and knows he is making mistakes.
At least he isn’t arrogant enough to think I am in the team and playing okay.
But then you would think that taking so few carries, every week, would make him doubly determined to get more involved in the next match but it doesn’t seem to change? Is that down to the way we play?
