We're not, I agree, but we don't have players coming through (yet) in the positions we're strengthening.

apologies, I didn't realise you'd gone from grumpy to pedantic. McKinnon is not a player that we'll win SL with, Heremaia is just a waste of a quota spot. And Sheldon, if they are wanted by the NRL, why are they leaving when the pay bonanza is around the corner?
Grumpy?
McKinnon is a top fullback, he may well surprise you.

which means we're paying more than their market value (as usual) whilst keeping our promising players on poor deals and playing U20's it's the FC way
I doubt our wage structure is alot different to other clubs.

I am not "going hell for leather", I can tell you who the highest earners at our club are, and they are not the players that we'll win SL with.
Maybe I should just not bother posting anymore, it seems the default opinion on here is that finishing 4-8th is fine, not exactly ambitious.

Here you go again spouting made of stuff. No one has said that, one minute we are having a sensible discussion and the next you resort to name calling of other fans.

Don't mistake a lack of cynicism as a lack of ambition.

Where was I name calling, I am simply stating that we are not, on the faace of it, recruiting players that will push us on to the top of the competition, and yet we spend the same cap as Wire,Saints,Wigan,Hudds.....

I wouldn't say it our recruitment from overseas, we've recruited some of the biggest names in world rl in the past few seasons.
It looks like were following other clubs now in signing lesser 'names' who might be able to offer more on the pitch and of course the exchange rate will be effecting things.
