Can’t see us carrying 3 decent centres plus 2 as back up , pointless . And please no , having 1 of them playing back row every week . We need a out and out quality back rower .

KNIGHTS HALVES ON THE OUTER
Something is going on at Newcastle regarding their halves.

Still looking for a replacement for Mitchell Pearce, whose move to France this year left a gaping hole in their playmaking, the club has offered both their current halves, Jake Clifford and Adam Clune, to English clubs.

It can mean only one thing - they have a halfback either signed or in mind for 2023.

Could it be a last desperate play to snare Luke Brooks from the Tigers?

I'd like us to sign Clifford, think he would do well in SL.

Probably played enough games to get a visa too

Wardle is an excellent young centre, who has potential to be International class, I'm not sure you can say that about either Wynne or Scott.

Carlos, Sutcliffe and Scott have the ability to play in the backrow too.

If we where to have Longstaff, Lane, Savelio and maybe Carlos in the backrow, we could use our last non fed on a scrum half.

Hence clune or Clifford

Plenty of centres end up in the backrow and do a good job, Isa and Lawrence spring to mine and there are plenty of other, Whiting also. Sutcliffe has played alot of games there and I think Carlos would do a really good job there, go the fitness, strength and size to play there IMO.

You also have to factor that Smith may want to move Wynne back to FB. I mean I still think they will be more moves then just Connor.

Carlos never does a full season anyway. Injuries have to be taken there toll.

Seem to remember big things being expected from Clifford. Hasn't seemed to have lived up to the hype. Salary would be a stumbing block.

Clune is the more steady of the 2. He's one of the lowest paid halves in the NRL atm.

I'd be happy with either tbf, but I think Clifford would be a fantastic signing

I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

I know its stil rumours but as others have said I don't see the logic in bringing Wardle in with the signing of Sutcliffe already, unless we move a couple more of our centres out or Carlos/Griffin are moved to S/R. We are desperately short in the back row and the only real size is Savelio but his injury record is a concern so we need at least one of similar quality to replace the loss of Mau.
If Connor does leave then with Gale already gone I imagine Hoy will be first choice goal kicker? Though after Hoy we really only have Ben McNamara left who is proven goal kicker.

Article on Zerotackle.com saying Clune has knocked back an offer from warrington for next season and won’t be heading to Super League.

Swap deals
The rumour mill has been in overdrive this past week about potential swap deals and coaching hires. There has been wild chat that Jake Wardle is headed to Wigan next year, but the club has denied it. There has also been talk that Wardle could instead be off to Hull FC, if Huddersfield can agreed a swap deal for Jake Connor. Tony Smith is wasting no time in his new gig, if that one comes off. Speaking of Smith and rumour is that he had arranged for Chris Thorman to be his new assistant at the Black & Whites, but for some reason that has now fallen through. Could former Wakefield boss Willie Poching now assist him at Hull FC? They do enjoy a great relationship. Speaking of Poching, and one source suggests some of the Trinity players weren't happy with Poching, and wanted him gone. Regardless, his axing caught many in the sport by surprise. There's also been a rumour that Catalans halfback Josh Drinkwater could be headed to join Wakefield, but the player himself has denied that. We also hear there will be an assistant coaching vacancy created at Leeds Rhinos very, very soon.

Didn’t they deny Poching on Monday?

May sound daft, but what about looking at Keyes as a half back?
Had a very good year at Fax.
