Lauaki was a far from poor signing, i know hull fans don't like to believe it but he was a good player for Wigan. other than the 2 brain farts against warrington that everybody loves to remember he was quite a solid player.

Must have ripped it up in the non televised games then.

you don't have to rip it up to be a good player. He did what wigan wanted him to, drive it in hard and tackle well and he did that.

I must have seen him a few times playing for Wigan and he looked the same player as he was at Hull, nothing but average, for a bloke his size and with his skills (which he showed at times) he should be doing more than he did, you can get kids out of the academy to drive hard and tackle well, you dont sign a overseas player on decent money and on a 4 year deal to be average, his stats last year are poor.

On the subject of Gelling, always liked him, he has mistakes in his game, but always thought he has the X factor about him, and he is finally showing it with a decent run in the team. I said about two years ago when he was struggling to get into the Wigan side he would be a good signing for us.

Also dont be fooled by video highlights, Richie Barnett looks the worlds best winger if you watch his highlights on youtube.

He played as well as most of our props bar mossop, he was far from a poor signing.

Im not basing my expectation on highlights but if you look on tube you will that there is a highlight of his general game player not just the best bits.

I must have been watching a different Lauaki and Wigan clearly signed a different one.

The one I saw was a slow, penalty machine with an occasional ability to bust a tackle and 99% of Hull fans were scratching their heads when Wigan signed him.

clearly you did, penalty machine? he was one of the lowest penalty givers in the pack. and it always took 3 to stop him and he had a decent offload. No matter how bitter hull fans are that he was complete poo for them he was actually decent at Wigan.

He was somewhat of a penalty machine for us so you guys obviously managed to get the best out of him. I'm certainly not bitter that he played better at Wigan than at FC. One of those things.

Not sure on stats but was he really a penalty machine? i certainly remember him giving penalties away at stupid times which cost us. Think twice i remember him giving away penalties when he actually had the ball!

from my recollection he was slightly ahead of Tickle in the penalty stakes, and Tickle seemed to give away plenty?
