He's a seasoned professional, who IMO isn't any worse than our current players. What he does have over our current right hand side is experience.
Whether you think Turner/Whiting/Crooks could do the same job or not, it's hardly a statement of our intent for 2012. I think the fact we forked our thousands for Andy Lynch is more indicative our intent tbh.
It's a 1 year deal, the obvious conclusion to draw is it's a stop gap until 2013. I'm sure I've read somewhere , might have been an interview with Bomber, that we have irons in the fire for 2013.

While I'm not exactly doing cartwheels over this signing I'm willing to give the bloke the benefit of the doubt and see how he goes. I'm certainly not 'disgusted', 'horrified' or any other absurd hyperbole.

funny how times change. i remember us signing graham mackay in 2002 when he was 33 and in a smilar position to martin - ie. a 1 year stop gap until we made a big signing (richie barnett). he ended up scoring 18 tries in 23 games and booting a few goals as well, and i don't recall too many folks moaning about this at the time

I meant more in that Domic was clearly a very good centre and stood out in a midtable side, whereas Eagar was never anything more than solid. It spoke volumes that by the time he regained fitness he lost first his preferred side to Yeaman, then his place to Whiting. He was a stop gap signing by McRae who didn't really offer much.

Also, to be fair to Eagar on the injury front you can't really predict broken arms, and his fitness record before joining us was fine IIRC.
