I understand that it's disappointing but we have to bear in mind that this was Last's first ever game as a head coach.
He's going to take time to get used to the role and make the adjustments he's been talking about in the press.
AP has indicated he's got until at least the end of the season so I think we owe him a duty to get behind him and not write him off before he's had a fair crack of the whip.
Hopefully things will pick up over the next week or two and at the end of the season he will be able to clear out a few, that TBF should have gone a while ago, and really make it his team.

Last must of thought he could do the job needed.
Although it was his first game, he has had plenty of time to prepare.
He knows the players and what they are about.

The main problem/worry is that nothing has changed

Would and will be another huge mistake by the club as was the interim appointment of Last.
I voiced my opinion of Radford many times and the same when Last was appointed.
He should have gone along with Radford not effectively promoted for failure.
To sit for several years as a cushy number two seeing the outdated style of play, lack of line speed and player movement and not do anything about it then you are not a future S/L coach. If the coach doesnt listen to you then if you have anything about you you look for another job.
We hear all the time from the club how good training was but nothing has changed.
The first thing you expect to see is some changes on the field.
yesterday was a disaster and i fully expect Last to be relieved of duties following defeats to Castleford next week and the following week in the C/C.
I couldnt see one change in style of play yesterday.
Same old deficiency in the opposition 20,slow play the ball,no player movement, riddled again with errors and defence a joke.
We must be the only team in S/L that cant stretch the opposition wide and score walk in tries
Last will obviously make changes but they wont be to the players that deserve to be dropped.
Ratu is an easy option and will be dropped even though i would still play him
Houghton,Shaul,Fonua,Griffin,Bowden and Sneyd all deserve to be dropped but maybe only Fonua will.
I also think Last made a selection error in starting with Sao and Ellis as the front row..We were weak in the front row and would have been better starting Bowden with Sao and having Gaz and Satae with Jack Brown on the bench. That would have been a better interchange impact.

Earlier in the year I spoke with a higher up at the club and casually mentioned that Evalds was off contract. I was literally told, why do we need Evalds when we have Jamie Shaul?

There seems to be a lot of loyalty towards the cup winning side, and if that is from higher ups, then the coach doesn't really have much input!

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

And would he have confirmed that we were after Evalds? I doubt it.

I responded because you said that "we have to bear in mind" (the result) because it was his first time as head coach and getting used to being in charge, sorry but IMO that really doesn't cut it as an excuse for that performance, not since the noises coming out the club as I linked to.
What 'coffers'? Is Pearson stating that he has no money personally, it's his company right, he's basically then said -by saying there's no money in the coffers, that he no longer wants to invest in the company he owns.
Clever move, basically showing us he now has lost interest in the club and cutting his losses, that attitude of no money (after piddling away a ton on players like Fonua that we didn't need) will never see us move forward.

His gamble of employing an inexperienced ex player as a coach has cost him massively - so much so there's apparently no money and no interest in financially wanting to invest, consistently poor results, unhappy fans that are less likely to buy into the club because of those performances, it's cost us the fans in terms of a long term strategy/future.
Boom and bust has never being the way for long term success both sporting and finance wise, yeah two CC wins were great but critical mistakes have cost the club/fans of so much more. Hanging onto Last as an economic solution just tells me all I need to know about where Pearson is with the club.

Im inclined to agree. There isnt a professional sports team in the world that wont budget for a head coach. I know its unprecedented times but i dont see how he can sack a coach but then say there's no money for a replacement.

Wasn't Radford's sacked pretty well the last day/week before the lockdown, and pretty well all income streams stopping for 4-5 months? Its a bit unreasonable to say that the club should have 6 months plus funds in the bank, (in addition to any possible payment due to Radford?).

LR could well be getting paid until next March, with no furlough deal to soften the blow for AP.

Same would have applied to Last if he'd been sacked at the same time. Expensive when the club is tottering on the brink.......

It may be that replacing Radford with an experienced and proven coach will cost more financially in wages than Radford plus to sign a coach now for this season would most likely mean a compensation fee to release whoever from their current contract. Not taking in to account the issues of the Covid situation and no income and its not know if AP possibly having to pay up Radfords contract.

Personally I'd like to see AP go out and get Ian Watson as he has proven the he can improve not just players on an individual level but also that he can take groups of players and mould them into a simple but effective team unit.

Lolohea as a typical example he was absolutely awful for Leeds but under Watsons coaching he's a totally different player. The amount of players Salford lose to other clubs even during a season yet takes gets fringe or unwanted players in as replacements and in most cases its a seemless transition.

I doubt very much that Watson would cost the earth to sign but looking at what he achieves with the funds and player pool he has available its undeniable he ticks all the boxes for a new Head Coach at our club to bring the best out of what is without doubt one of the most talented squads we have had at Hull FC yet they are playing so far under par its unreal.

That could add up to nearly 4 years coach's salaries (Watson is contracted 'til 2022) plus Watson's salary for this year. Not very realistic when the pot is empty.
