The sad thing is the whole situation stinks, and those responsible have left the crap behind for someone else to clean up.
Lets hope for reasonable success on the pitch so as we can leave this farce behind us.

If Kath and co were still here that'd be valid. How much of a deterrent is it to folk who weren't involved in the first place?

Plenty I would have thought. I'm sure a big fine or points deduction would deter any club owner/senior official from doing anything similar in the future. A slap on the wrist and losing a couple of patsys is hardly likely to deter anyone

But why are you advocating that Pearson and his team need a deterrent? There's been nothing in his previous administering of sporting clubs to indicate that he operates with anything other than the highest integrity.

Fining Hull now would make absolutely no difference to the way Pearson operates and other clubs are not daft enough not to acknowledge that fact.

Punishment of the individuals may make people reflect on their own accountabilities within office, though, and make them more likely to consider the consequences of their own actions. Punishing Hull would be a token gesture that may make the RFL appear to be addressing issues in a tough way to certain naive parties. In reality, it would have no,effect at all, imo.

I suppose you could get a disrepute charge. Melbourne Storm's punishment affected guiltless new arrivals iirc. That was more systemic though.
I'd surprised if any more came of it and personally don't think it should. Let's get on with the Rugby.

I'm saying the whole game needs a deterrent.

I'm assuming by your comments that you believe that sanctions for breaches of the salary cap are also not a deterrent to club owners? The facts would seem to say otherwise

It would be worth a fine and a points deduction for a thorough RFL investigation IMO to see how deep it went
